I was wondering if anyone has used the "no tent" method of getting rid of termites. The whole idea of fumagation just freaks me out.I woory about the residual effects left in the house, especially in bedding(mattresses, pillows and such).Ofcourse the swarm of termites and what they do to your home is not so good either. So if anyone has done the no tent method can you please let me know how it went and what company you used. Thanks for your help,C.

What can I do next?

I have known of others with the problem...however I've never known anyone that used the tent method..
There is the Microwave Treatment which rids the home using a heat element...but this is used to heat one or two walls...
The other method is to replace the wood with pretreated wood, which then gets rid of them..but expensive...
Another person swears by Hewlett Pest Control...

Good Luck

We used the injection method with Orkin, instead of tenting because we would have had to remove a wood deck in the back to put a tent in. That cost us over $2,000. That was like 2 years ago, but we are still finding termites, so I think we are still going to have to tent. Honestly, I don't think the injection stuff does anything. But I am not an expert. They did say that if we had to eventually tent we'd get a discount.

back in 2004 (before the hurricanes) we found termites when we were replacing the baseboards in our bedrooms and had Truly Nolen come ($1,100). They treated the areas and were to treat the perimeter of the entire house, no tent. I assume they got rid of them, but then after the hurricanes they were found in one of the bedrooms that was being renovated - they had eaten the two exterior walls from top to bottom. I got Truly to treat again as it was less than a year, and cost me $175 more. (They literally wouldn't spray until I paid.) They had actually come about a month before for their "free inspection" and said the house was termite free. I stated this when termites were found again. They told me "we can't see in walls". They have a guarantee after you get treated, $175 per year, but if they can't "see in walls" you wouldn't know if you had termites until your house fell down on top of you. I don't know about other companies, but Truly Nolen didn't do a good job for me.

Hey C.,
I don't know about the no tent method, but my aunt just had the tent thing done this weekend & she was told that she doesn't even have to wash her dishes or anything. She had packed all her kitchen stuff & she was then told by the installers that she didn't have to do that cause I guess they use some type of chemicals that don't need to be washed out. Let me know if ur interested & I will ask her the name of the company..
