Hi Mamas!

Looks like my 7 month old is cutting his first tooth and it has been a doozy!! He will not sleep for more than 2, maaaaybe 3 hours at a time and he just really wants to be held - by me, only me. My older son was never like this when he was teething, he was actually a lot easier - so I'm about a ready to pull my hair out. I've got teething rings, toys, orajel, teething swabs, tablets, pain reliever medicine....everything I've got or know to do does not seem to do the trick to help ease the little guys pain. I've tried warm baths too. It calms him down for about 10 mins, but after that we are back to crying. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? I'm anxious to hear them!!

Thank you!!

What can I do next?

Are you sure that teething is the only problem? If you have good insurance, a trip to the doc, to make sure the ears are not infected might not hurt. My dauther had a double ear infection, no fever, only sympotom was not drinking her bottle, and biting-wich is usually teething. I was shocked when they said it was a double ear infection. There were virtually no signs.

We do Hylands Teething Tablets, they did the trick. You can also take the soft pacifiers, wet them put them in the freezer and let him chew on them. Frozen wash clothes also work.

Good Luck.

Teething wasn't tough for us, but I heard a washcloth dipped in tomato juice that's been refrigerated, can help.

good luck to you and yours,

I have to second Hyland's. We used both the teething tablets and the colic tablets because our little ones had both at the same time. But, they both had all of their teeth by the age of 13 months. But, using them both together worked really well. Also, tylenol is a great pain saver!

I know many mamas who have had incredible luck with Baltic amber teething necklaces or bracelets. The baby DOES NOT chew on them, he wears it. The amber contains succinic acid, which is a natural anti-inflammatory that is absorbed through the skin. I know so many moms who swear by it...and think it's worth a try.

We always gave my son a frozen waffle to chew on.
