Any hints on relieving teething pain so my 9 month old can sleep through the night without waking up in pain? Last night he literally woke up every hour! I gave him Hylands Teething tablets but not sure if that really helped. Looking for any other hints.

What can I do next?

Teething tablets worked wonderful with my daughter, she is 15 months old. They taste great and work great with her.

we've had alot of sleepless nights here too, my daughter FINALLY cut her bottom teeth this morning and is in a much better mood & so am i. her pediatrician said not to use baby orajel becuase there is new evidence that it can cause issues with thier tummies. i gave her warm rags to chew on during the day and at night i gave her ibuprofen(motrin). my grandmother mixed small amounts of sugar and water together & dipped the corner of a warm washcloth into it so we would chew on it longer & help sooth our gums, i tried it with my daughter & it works, only thing is they have to go to bed sometime & sugar tends to keep them up for a while(she neglected to tell me that part..lol). it was about 11pm before she woukd fall asleep. good luck, i'll be praying his pain stops.

We use the topical (Anbesol or Oragel) for immediate relief & follow with oral Tylenol for long term. For us, the pain is enough to keep my daughter from falling asleep, but not enough to wake her up. So, one dose makes it for the night.

Baby Orajel is great!! It works so well, when I had a tooth problem I was using it! And it's only got a yucky taste for a few seconds!

I actually tried the baby orajel myself once to see its affects. It worked pretty good but didn't have a long term effect. I suggest some motrin shortly before bedtime along with orajel and if he wakes up then follow with some tylenol.

I would definitely give your little guy some tylenol! Teething pain is one of the most intense sources of pain that a child will experience. This is why he is not sleeping! Dose by weight or call your Dr. for dosing directions.

Infant Motrin and Orajel. Put the Orajel on right after you give the Motrin. It will numb the area long enough for the Motrin to kick in. Tylenol is great, but doesn't last all night. When my dd is teething I have to get up every 4 hours to re-dose. Both of us were so tired! I switched to Motrin and she sleeps all night long.

A touch of Tylenol or Mortin before bed. Keep using the Hylands. My daughter needs four at a time to give relief every four to six hours. Also I feed her popicles to help numb the gums...sugar free ones. And lately with the eye teeth coming in...she's been real interested in me flossing my teeth...so I pulled off a piece and flossed around where her eye teeth were coming in. She loved it. Now i would never just give her floss to handle on her own.

There is nothing wrong with using anbesol, tylenol or advil for teething pain, unless your pediatricain has said otherwise. If you were to call them, this would be the suggestion.

Teething is a temporary pain, and that is what these over the counter anelgesics are for. Espeically if she is having a few days of sleeplssness, and the homeopathic tablets have not worked you are not doing anything out of the ordiary by using these. It is a temporary solution for a temorary problem.

I LOVE Hyland's Teething Tablets! They are all natural, no side effects, and babies LOVE them! I use that along with baby motrin.

Dosing with tylenol or motrin is great! Read the package and give based on weight (ignore the age area please!) It will help relieve some of the pain and get you both some rest!
