Hi Moms!
I remember reading some advice on here about products good for teething--someone said teething tablets I believe. Please send me any advice on things I can do for my son! I use Tylenol and frozen teethers, but he is normally a happy baby and has been a terror the last two days. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Hi L. -
Hylands teething tablets, I have really only seen them at Walgreens. They are in a small blue bottle by the teething items. They dissolve almost immediately so you don't have to worry about choking. I have used them with both my girls and swear by them. Good luck!

Hi L.,
My son is 5 months old and already has two teeth all in about two weeks! So I know what your going through! A girlfriend of mine recomended the teething tablets by Hyland (spelling?). They are in the baby isle at Walgreens. They really work for my son, you just put a couple in his mouth every couple of hours, or when the fussiness is the worse, and it really calms him down ( I think it's the camomile)! I also use the teething rings and tylenol. My neighbor told me to rub the tylenol on his gums, but I would check with the pedi. before doing that! Good Luck!

Hi L.,
An Age old remendy....which is a little on the iffy side.
Rub his gums with brandy. I've never done that, but i'm sure it will take the pain away....Years ago, when mine were young...i used a cream...called..numsit...somthing likethat.
Hope i was of some help.
Remember....it does not last forever....enjoy them, they grow up way TOO fast.

L.,

Hyland's brand has teething tablets and teething gels which worked well for my son. As a last resort, family members and our family doctor recommended rubbing a little frozen Vodka on the gums, and it worked as well. Good luck!

There is a product called Hyland's teething tablets. They are all natural and work pretty well. They dissolve under the baby's tongue. You can get them for sure at Walgreens and I think Target too.
You could also try a partially frozen wet washcloth. Its good to bite on.
Good luck,
S.

We put Benadryl Chilren's liquid on the gums. A couple nurses told us that one. Use either a really wet q-tip or your fingers. Also the Baby's first toothbrush from One Step Ahead or The Right Start is helpful.

Be wary of homeopathic stuff if your child had food allergies...there's often lactose in them.

Hi L., I always used Baby Ambesol. It worked everytime. Especially right before bedtime. I hoped this helped!

Hi, L. ~ I feel your pain ~ I remember so well those lovely days of "Teething Hell!" :-) I found that something that worked wonders was the netted teething rings that you put frozen fruit in. I found them at Target, but not with the teething stuff ~ it was in the aisle with all the utensils and sippy cups. Trader Joe's has frozen mango that fit perfectly in them and my daughter loved it. It helped to keep me sane and her somewhat happy during those hellish months. Good luck!!

I also recommend Hyland's teething tablets. They don't interact with medication and after talking to Hyland directly(there's an 800 number on the bottle)I found the caffeine is only a catalyst to help ease the chamomile into the system faster. It has never amped up our son at all. I have found them at Walgreen's in the teething section and Wal Mart in the kid's vitamin section for around $5.99/bottle. The ones I've used come in a little pink box, easy to miss so you have to look for them.
Good Luck!

I know a lot of people use and swear by the Hylands teething tablets. I never used them because I believe that they contain caffine. My son was miserable too. At walmart you can by a vibrating teether. It is shaped like a star and has a blue handle. When the baby bites it, it will vibrate. At first he wasn't able to do it himself, so we would hold it for him. It really seemed to soothe him. I also used the netted baby feeder. It is like a little net pouch that you can put fruit into and it has a handle that the baby can hold. I would put frozen banana and peach pieces into it and that also seemed to help. He also seemed to like to chew on a wet wash cloth. Good luck!

Another Hylands / Tylenol mom. My 2 yr old son teethed so badly that he was vomiting prior to using the tablets and I actually found that he was able to sleep more with them. I rarely put them directly on his gums. I actually dropped a few into his sippy cup (at suggestion of a friend) and then shook it up. It would numb a little every time he took a drink. They also seem to be working again as he is getting molars...

My little boy is 9 months old. I've been using Baby Ambesol & it works great! You put a drop or two on your fingertip (or Q-tip) and rub it on his gums. In two seconds, he stops crying and is content again. I tried it on my own gums & it's rather numbing.

Good luck!

Use the Hylands teething tabs - they do have caffine but my daughter slept just fine when she took them. I also used frozen pancakes for her to chew on.

L.,
Since the pain is really bad, you might try Infant's Motrin. For my kids, it works better than Tylenol. We also use homeopathic remedies, but they really don't work for us like the Motrin. Also, if you are breastfeeding, that is a great drug, too.
Good luck.

If you go to Target or Wal Mart you should be able to buy this in the baby area. It is a plastic handle with a net "bag" that screws on to it. I forget what they are called. Anyway, put a slice of apple or baby carrot in the bag, screw it on to the handle and give it to your son to chew on. The fruit ot veggies taste good and stay cold longer than teething rings. Because it is in the bag, they can't choke on it. My son loved these! (It will also help the teeth to break through)
