Teething Help - Palm Beach Gardens,FL

My 8 month old son has been teething also. Runny nose, cough, drool, sleeplessness, the works... Last night he was so miserable and wouldn't sleep. I dissolved 2 teething tablets in a bit of water and gave it to him. He instantly stopped crying and feel fast asleep. Seriously it took 30 seconds. It was either a flute or a miracle remedy. They are called Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets. You can find them at Walmart, or a drug or grocery store. Hope this helps.

Hi J.! I have a five month old who is just cutting his first tooth. It hasn't been fun, but this is what I've done... He had some congestion early on, including runny nose. I too didn't want to use medication like Benadryl, etc. so I tried 'Little Noses.' It is a saline spray that is much safer and you just spray it in each nostril. It helped a lot with my little one. There is also 'Baby Simply Saline' if you can find it. My local Walgreens used to carry it. You could also put a vaporizer in her room. I hear this has helped other babies with simliar symptoms!

Recently my 24 month old daughter was coughing and coughing, but as long as we gave her cough medicine she was okay. Then one night it didnt even help, so I made an appointment (her cough had lasted almost 4 wks by this time). She had an ear infection that was causing her sinuses to be clogged and then it drip and make her cough, so the cough medicine was not helping at all and she needed the antibiotics to get rid of the ear infection and it helped completely. I am just suggesting you go in because my daughter was not even complaining of her ear hurting so I had not even thought to think it was an ear infection or anything other than a cough.

I tried teething tablets. They are from the people at little noses. i have only used them once, but they did work. A mommy at the gymboree i was in swears by them.

Hi J., I used "baby orajel" teething swabs, it really works. I tried on myself before using it on my son and my mouth was numb. I also used "vicks waterless vaporizer", this great for congestion. It gives off vicks scent which smells up the room for few hours per strip.

my doctor recommended "little noses" which are jsut saline drop so completely harmless but it helps with the runny nose, also try putting a pillow under the matress to elevate her head at night, this helped with my son and he sleeps better

Go to Walgreens and get the "Humphreys" Homeopathic medication for teething pain relief and fever. They are sold by numbers so get the number 1 and number 3 and give your child 3 (pellets)each about twice a day!!!! This is an old time remedy that truly works and its all natural!!!!!

Are you sure the runny nose and coughing is from her teeth and not allergies.
The past few weeks have been horrible for those of us with allergies, my 4 yr old son included.

Also, you may want to try and raise the head of her bed so she's not laying flat. For example, put a phone book opened in the middle under her mattress...

oh my... first best of luck with this teething issue. I have spend more than 5 trips ot the after hours peditrician and to only be told she is teething. fever of over 102 vomiting and dirah. (spelling) the easiest and yet hardest thing to do is to just wait it out. It always seems to pass.

When my older daughter was teething, I gave her a wet wash rag or a tooth brush to chew on and it seemed to help. Iwouldn't give a baby that young benadryl or cough meds. Seems to young to me. (I also just read an article on medicating children under 2 years and it stressed not giving benedryl) You can always put a cool mist humidifier in her room to help with the cough. It will run its course and then you'll have a little biter to look foward too!

What great responses you have received! The only thing I can add is that I would give the Benadryl and Robitusson to your daughter only at night. My 2 year old wigs out on the stuff if I give it to him during the day and then we are both miserable. If it is indeed allergies instead of teething, Claritin now has a kids formula, but check with your doctor first. Good luck!

My daughter was a late teether and at 24 months weighs only 23 pounds (she's fine just small). We used the teething tablets, raised her head (we had a wedge put under her sheet from the time she was very young) and the humidifier. We were told that Heat and air conditioning can aggravate her symptoms so we covered the heating/cooling ducts.

I would also have her checked for potential allergies and a respiratory issue. You can always try another dr.

Keep reminding yourself that this phase doesn't last long, your baby will make it through it. Good Luck.

I found that my girls responded really well to the homeopathic Teething Tablets (that's the name) I think I got them in the vitamin section in the Wal Mart pharmacy. They really are a miracle. The label says that they may get sleepy after you use them, but not because of the meds, because they have pain relief and can finally get some sleep. As for the nose. I would take the DR advice and use the Benedryl (get the clear kind to avoid a stain you can't remove). It will make her sleepy, but she can probably use the sleep and they Benedryl is not addictive (it's what I take when I'm suffering from insomnia)and it also helps to dry up the secretions which may lead to ear infection (my 1st daughter had 3 ear infections when she was teething...on the 3rd I talked to the pharmacist, not the dr. to find out how much benedry to give her). And finally, try to be sympathetic. I know it's tough to maintain control of a screaming toddler, but if you remember when your wisdom teeth came in, you know how painful it really is. Give her a popsicle (of course watch her closely with the stick and save yourself some laundry--strip her to the diaper :) ). Best of luck to you and your family.

Maybe try froozen fruit in a mesh bag. Banannas, grapes, berries....ice, popcils...etc. smoothies. Honestly, it sounds like allergies more than teething. gut her room....clean the carpets, wash the curtains and toys....loo closely at her daycare for the same issues....my son was sick only at day care ...dust and mold and such....teething is a common excuse for mild symptoms, but really...teething doesn't cause much other than drooling and some pain. As adults, we fear it (do to wisdom teeth) kids handle it well.
Cold things should help anyway.

Maybe some saline solution or nasal decongestant drops in her nose. Little Noses I think is the brand I use...Benadryl and Robitussin seem a bit strong for an unspecific cough due to teething...Sitting in steam helps loosen things up too, don't know if you've tried that! Sorry, my kids had such uneventful teething, runny noses and all. The most they had was bad diarrhea because of all the running of the noses. That was how they were affected! Hope these suggestions can help...

I used the homeopathic teething tablets and they really seemed to help with the crankiness. I also used those baby nose drops to dry up the runny nose. Both seemed to work well for me. Good luck, this phase stinks - not only are they teething, but they have to get all the stuff that goes with it, rashes, runny noses, ect. Not Fair!!

My daughter is going through the same thing. The homeopathic teething tablets seem work the best. She still has the terrible cough, but I am extremely hesitant to give her any medication.
