Hi! I have some cavities in my mouth that have to get fixed. My dentist is all booked up, I have an appointment with her to get 2 teeth pulled. The problem I am having is that 1 of the teeth is killing me right now and NO medicines I have taken so far have been helping. It is too the point that I can't eat solid food for the past 2 days. Can someone please tell me something that I can do to aliveate this pain. Thank you in Advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I just had the tooth that was hurting so bad, it was abscessed, pulled and one on the other side pulled at the same time. Thank you to everyone who replied back.

I agree with Beth......you probably have an infection (abscess). I am a dental hygienist and the only thing that will stop the pain is an antibiotic. Make sure you take as directed because the anesthesia used to numb you during the extraction won't work if the infection is still present. Hope this helps......I see these types of problems almost every day. Also make sure the dentist has discussed every option with you....not just extractions. How do you plan to replace the teeth once they have been removed?

call the dentist you might have an infection and need antibiotics, and a perscrition pain killer. Ibuprofin works better for mouth pain than tylenol does as far as over the counter stuff goes.

I know this doesn't sound likemuch but try brushing and flossing the teeth if possible when the pain become to much.I had a wisdom tooth once that had a flap of skin over it, it was fine for the longest time but food eventually got under the tooth and cause me severe pain.I had to have both pulled but while I was waiting I brushed really often which helped the pain temp. each time.I also say that if possible fine another doctor.I went to one called peacock near doctors hospital...great experience!

Have you tried gargling with hydrogen peroxide? This is good to do on a regular basis anyway as it kills bacteria in your mouth to prevent infections, etc. Not sure if this will help your pain, but it is certainly something you can do on a future maintenance basis. It also whitens your teeth. Also, garlic is a natural antibiotic that kills and prevents infections. You can gargle or drink water that's had garlic cloves soaking in it in the refrigerator. I know that doesn't sound appealing, but my godmother used to take a sip of that daily to prevent illness and I never smelled garlic on her, even though I have a strong sense of smell.

I'm going to assume that you've already tried Oragel. Have you tried an antihistamine like Benadryl? Sometimes the inflamation of sinuses (it pollen season) can make a toothache worse, even if you don't have allergies. Bless your heart, I hope you feel better.

I am so sorry for your pain. I know what you are going through. I found sticking a bag of ice or frozen peas on the out side of my check worked the best. I would also call you dentist back and tell them your problem. YOU should not have to live in pain. Good luck to you.

This is T. F about the teeth hurting. I called the dentist this morning and they called in a prescription for More Ibuprofen. This same stuff is not working. I even took some Xanax and it didn't help! All it did was make me sleep. The dentist is trying to fit me in where they can but they are all booked up right now.

The same thing happened to my husband before his tooth was pulled. I use natural things and we used Clove Oil on his tooth and that helped him through it very much. You can go to a local health food store and get some. Just put some on a Q-tip and swab the area. It will somewhat get numb though....I know some people don't like that. Anyway, that's the only suggestion that I have for you. That's what my husband did.

If you have an infection, there are plenty of natural antibiotics that will help out with that as well. My FAVORITE health food store is 'Good Nutrition' and it's off of Beaver Ruin Rd. There is another Good Nutrition (owned by the same people) off of McGinnis Ferry Road.

Good luck and I hope your tooth stops hurting!

HI T.,

Donna's got it right. Clove oil will help and it does have an anesthetic effect and you also might want to try Melaleuca oil. It's a high grade tea tree oil. It is very penetrating and will literally get to the root of the problem. If there is already an infection there it will keep it from getting worse. If there is an infection, go to the health food store for a natural antibiotic (we use colloidial silver if there is ever an infection.) Silver is never to be used for health maintenance but it will not have any side effects if used properly. Ask the health food store, but I would take a teaspoon 3 times a day for 10 days.

If it's going to take that long to get into your dentist you may want to find another one. You DON'T want an infection to get to another tooth.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

M.

Call the dentist and inform them that you cannot eat. Usually that will get them to squeeze you in. Or, perhaps they can call in some Vicodin for you - you just won't be able to drive. I know what you are going through and it sucks, I hope you get some relief very, very soon!
