Tandem vs Side-by-side Double Stroller

We are looking to buy a double stroller for our infant (3mo.) & toddler (19mo.). We have "test drove" a few at Lonestar Baby, but still cannot decide what to go with. We like the idea of a "sit & stand", but our toddler showed us he is not ready for this feature. We are wondering how much parents like the Graco Quattro Tour Duo. Has anyone found a side-by-side that isn't too wide and can fit an infant seat?

What can I do next?

THe Baby Trend Sit and Stand has a "deluxe" model that has a removable back seat. Use the seat this year and next year remove it and you can still use the same stroller! Check out www.strollerdepot.com for videos of all your options.

I got the Combi Twinn Savvy XL stroller and I love it! My children are 16 months apart and they both fit in it great. The thing I loved about this stroller (side by side) it tri folds so very easy to get in and out of the car. Also it has cup holder's which is a must for toddlers. We never had any problems getting in and out of doors. As far as the infant carrier I think it has to be a combi to fit correctly. We had a Peg-Perego and it did not fit. There is an infant boot on each side so we would just take our son out of the infant carrier and place him in the stroller. He loved to sleep in it so it must be pretty comfortable. Hope this helps.

We'll I've had both and a sit and stand. I don't like the side by side because it's a BOOGER to get in doors and through isles. I even got a smaller umbrella version (Chicco). It was great for outings such as the zoo or the State Fair but beware at the mall or trying to get through the isles. The front and back models fit the best but can get hard to turn when your kids get alittle more wieght on them but fits better going through the stores. I LOVE my sit and stand! I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and they do great. I love that my eldest can walk or sit/stand as needed while we are out.
Best Regards,
C.

I agree with Amber. You need both. I also love our Quattro Duo.

side by side strollers are great for "outings" but not anywhere where you'll need to get into an elevator, fit thru doors, or walk thru aisles.

Actually, you will want both in my opinion! I have had several double strollers in my years with kids, and my favorite is the Quattro Tour Duo. I love the way it handles..it is still big, it is a double stroller, but it is great for trips to the mall, or other places where fitting in isles and doorways is a struggle. Now, for trips to the zoo, walks around the neighborhood, and any vacations, like Sea World etc. you will want a side by side jogger (with a front wheel that swivels, learned that the hard way!!) When the kids need to see where you are going, and want to look around at things, a side by side is perfect. It also helps that they can both lay back for a nap completly, while in the Graco, the front seat only reclines a little bit. My last 2 are 15 months apart, so I speak from experience with the same age gap. Even at 2.5, I dont think my son is ready for the freedom of a sit and stand. But sometimes, I dont buckle him is, if we allow him to get in and out, like at the zoo. Good luck in your search, just as soon as you find the perfect one, you will want something different, so just do the best you can! ~A.~
