Take and Toss Sippy Cups

We are going to be doing a lot of traveling this summer and I was wondering if anyone knows of a Take and Toss Sippy Cup that has a flow valve. My daughter will only be 16-17 months when we do our traveling and I don't think she will be able to handle it without spilling all over herself. I'd rather not have to pack our good sippy cups and worry about cleaning them while in hotels. Honestly, I haven't looked myself yet, I'm just on the computer checking out hotels and other various information about our destinations and got to thinking about packing.

What can I do next?

Oh how I hate those cups!!! LOL. They leak bad....they are ok when teaching how to use a regular cup but as far as not wanting a mess while traveling...dont buy them! If you are worried about losing expensive sippy cups I would get a couple of 1.00 nuby ones from walmart and be done.

Just a thought...
Save yourself the extra money, take your good one's you know they don't leak. Buy a small bottle of dishsoap, wash them in the hotel sink.
And save the earth, don't buy disposable plastic sippy cups.
We travel a lot, stay in hotels and always take our own.
Don't buy a bunch of new convenience items because you think you need them to travel, you don't. The savings will be useful on your trip.

I love the disposable plastic sippy cups. I don't think any of them come with a flow valve but I have never had a problem with leaking. I do reuse mine and they are easier to clean than the other good ones. After we started using the disposable ones we didn't go back to the other ones.

Know I am responding late but just wanted to put my two cents in regarding tummy ticklers and belly washer sippy cups. THESE HAVE LEAD in them. Just got an email from the company today confirming it...they should be ashamed! I feel sorry for the poor moms and kids who are using them. The company says they have acceptable levels of lead in them but eeeeewwww I don't believe and I have heard pediatricians say there is no such thing as acceptable level of lead in a childs toy/cup/etc.

I've read the posts and you either love them or you hate them. It's pretty much all we use in this house other than plastic ups without lids. They last forever but you don't care if you have to throw one away either. All sippys will spill if they are upside down, we've had several different kinds. We've been using them for almost 3 years now. (we have a 3 1/2 yr old and 1 1/2 yr old) When I transitioned them from bottle to sippy I primarily used the Nubys that you can get at walmart for cheap. I've tried other styles but they are a pain in the butt. If you are going to be traveling you will still have to clean them since buying a pack a day isn't cost effective. They are supper easy to clean on the fly. I just bought replacements and they came with a rubber adaptor that attaches to the edge and provides a mouth cover so you can store/close up a drink that your kid doesn't finish. I would say look for ones with that so you can seal it and finish it later.

We've been using the take and toss since my 6 year old was a baby. They seem to be the cups my kids like the best. At home we just wash them, but on vacation we weren't worried if they got lost. My 16 month old uses them and has since she was 6 months old. They will drip a little if you hold them upside down and shake them, but they seem to leak less than our other sippy cups. I was just thinking today that I need to get rid of all our other cups because we really only use the take & toss.

If you decide to take regular cups you can easily wash them in the hotel room. Before we went to Disney a couple months ago I got a sponge, squirted a fair amount of dish soap on it and let it dry for a few days. Then I cut it into several pieces and put it in a ziplock. I used a piece of it each night in the hotel to wash out our refillable mugs, then just tossed the little piece. Worked great.

I've been using the take and toss kind for more than two years now (the same ones). If my kid really chucks it, the lid may come off, but I don't generally have any sort of leaking problem.

Also, I enlarged the drinking holes (with a hot paperclip) to give it better flow...most sipply cups are just glorified bottles and I cringe to think of what effect they can have on their teeth. I even cut the valves out of her straw type cups that go to daycare.

I started my daughter on a cup at 5 months. Your daughter is certainly old enough to manage it ok. Start with water until she gets the hang of the flow.

But, if you don't need them, use what you have. Don't spend money that you don't need to.

They don't have flow valves. Go with what she's used to and start working on her using a straw so when you're eating out you can just order her milk or whatever and it comes in a kids cup. Also, it's really not that hard to bring a small bottle of dish soap and swish them around in a hotel sink, I use a spare wash cloth to let them air dry overnight. And if she starts using a straw you can do juice boxes, Mott's for Tots come pre-mixed with water, lift up the side flaps and teach her to use them as her handles so the squeezing doesn't happen or Babies R Us sells cheap juice box holders.

I have one toddler and a baby and we travelled a lot with them the last two years! I take their favorite sippy cups and just bring a sample bottle of dishsoap and a bottle brush! That way we don't have to spend any extra in buying new cups, and I'm sure I won't have any issues with using a new brand that could spill or that my kids won't like to use!! I usually wash them every night before going to bed in a hotel sink and just let them air dry on a clean towel.

Don't! Just take the least expensive of what you have (2-3 cups) and "swish" clean them with a little soap and hot water! Or, have you tried juice boxes? My girl (15 months) does squeeze them a little too much sometimes, but mostly she does pretty good (you can drink a little "off the top" so they don't spill as easy). Good luck, and happy travels!

I used them for my daughter when we went on trips and they worked good. They do leak a bit though. But it is so nice not to worry about cleaning them everyday when you have more exciting things to do. Have fun : ).

They are horrible they spill the sucking is almost to the point you give up my kids didn't like these then I tried the ones with the straw what a joke the fluids come up from the straw creating a big mess I even poured the juice in the cup slowly putting the straw into the cup but nope nothing worked for me.If you have any junky cups that u wouldn't mind missing later then use them or I just recently purchased Tummy Ticklers they are great my 12 month uses it and loves it so i'll be out to buy more they can be found at Walmart in the juice section where u would purchase Capri Sun pouches and other various lunch box juices
