Swollen Lady Bits - Probably TMI

I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with my second baby and not that I had anything to compare it to but I swear I was lucky enough to have a total textbook pregnancy with my first. This time around I am still very lucky thus far with my overall health and the pregnancy as a whole. It is very different though. I was in the shower this evening and I happened to notice that my right side (of my lady bits =) is quite puffy and swollen. I know its not vericose veins but the whole area is swollen and sort of tender. I also apparently developed hemmeroids with my first but honestly had no idea until I was in labour and the nurse asked me about it. This time and especially over the last few weeks I have started to notice that they have become a nusance and that it is just overall uncomfortable in that entire area. I definitely have a lot of movement, ie. the baby, in the lower region this time and I also have been carrying around my 2 yr old as usual so Im not sure if this can contribute to the swelling. Does anyone have any experience with this or can someone just reassure me that this is and seems totally normal? Sorry if this is all TMI
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

When do you go back to the doctor? I'd definitely go in and have your lady bits checked to make sure there isn't an infection. If you don't have an appointment scheduled for a while, call and get one.

Just to make sure, okay?

Can you use a cold pack on your 'lady bits' in the evenings? That may help give some relief.

Also, for hemmorhoids, I'd suggest eating blueberries and pears. They both are great sources of fiber. (My midwife recommended blueberries for this problem, but warned me not to eat more than a cup or so a day.) Use a witch H. soaked pad or wipes (Tucks, Hazelettes or your grocery store may have their own brand). My midwife gave me a peony-based naturopathic hemmorhoidal cream to use for that which also helped. You may be able to find one OTC.

Its normal for everything to become a bit swollen in that whole area---lots of bloodflow to your whole body---I would take it easy and try not to carry your 2 year old around--GL

One side of my bikini area swelled and made my lady bits look really weird and lopsided..... Turns out it was a hernia..... This was with my third.

Worth getting checked but probably not an emergency.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.... Hang in there :-)

Yeah, sucky but normal I think. Are you sure there is no vericose vein there? I had one with my second and it was nasty! I actually had no idea that could happen in that area, but I get all the weird stuff happening to me! ;) Anyway, an ice pack might help if you can tolerate it and just try and sit down as much as possible, at least after your 2 y/o goes to bed. Ask Hubby to do stuff or just let it go until the next day.

OMG, yes...I had that too. My OB said that it was from increased blood low. My sister had the problem too and we looked it up and found it online and in Jenny McCarthy's book and the name of it is CHEESEBURGER CROTCH! I swear, do a google search and a lot will come up on it, LOL! Every now and then we still joke about it...how can you not, right?! You're getting very close...hang in there! consider yourself spoiled with your first uneventful pregnancy ;)
