For the last few days i have been experiencing extremely swollen breast also they are heavy as well. They are sore to touch and move. I am using the Nuvaring and have been consist with it no forgetting or miss-use. Has anyone gotten pregnant on the ring or does anyone think that I may be. I have taken an EPT test last week cause i honestly thought i was it was negative. My period was this week but it was weird two days slight bleeding then a day none then the day after that a little bit, but that is all.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your responses, I made a doc appt for Thursday. I have been on the ring for 3 years and this is the first time this has happened since right after I had my daughter(which was caused by me not breastfeeding). So I will let you all know on Friday how things went.

It might be the level of estrogen. I actually liked birth control fo that reason...gave me a lift! ;) Ask for a low-dose pill if it bothers you. :)

One thing to remember is that all hormonal birth control has side effects. When you are starting any new type you will have an adjustment time. I used the ring for several years and loved it. Some of the things that I had as "side effects" were as you described. I had a decrease in my menstral flow, breast tenderness, and mild nausea during my PMS time. On the upside I also experienced an upswing in my sexual desire! Also be mindfull that the only birth controll that is 100% is abstinence. Seeing that you are married and the impression is that you have normal healthy relations with your DH....I would just be aware that there ARE people who use this tye of birth control and do conceive. If you are still not sure, re-test and follow up with your doctor either way just for your overall comfort :)

Honestly I would test again and or call your doctor, any change is A change somewhere and should be understood where it is coming from.

Hoping your answers come soon.

This may just be normal reaction to the birth control. My sister in law's breasts went up a whole cup size. However, since this is painful for you, I would immediately contact your gyno! She may be able to determine if you have an infection or prescribe a lower estrogen form for you.

Call your dr. and ask for a pregnancy test. I bled the whole first 2 months of my pregnancy, and had horribly swollen/sore breasts. You probably aren't pregnant, but if you are you should know ASAP.

Let us know what happened!

It is possible to get pregnant on contraceptives and it is possible to have a false positive. However, I think what you are experiencing is more likely a side effect of the nuvaring. You have to remember that these devices pump our bodies full of hormones as well. Sometimes, it takes a little longer to react to them. My advice is to check with 2 very important people, your pharmacist for a list of side effects with the nuvaring and your doctor to make sure this isn't something he/she wants to see you about and check into.

Anyhow, I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
