Does anyone know of or participate in a mommy/toddler swimming class near Belmont, MA? I'd like to take my two year old son to some lessons. We are not looking to join a gym though, so preferably we'd like to find a place where we can just do the lessons.

What can I do next?

The YMCA in Oak square, Brighton has a great (warm) pool for lessons! All of my children had lessons there and it was great.

Try Arlington boys and girls club. Also Watertown Boston Sports Club has nonmember prices.

You can't go wrong with the YMCA-teaching kids to swim is what they do! But I will advise that my pediatrician told me until they're about 3, they're not learning a whole lot about swimming and the germs etc they can catch from being in the "public" water (especially in Spring) may be enough to keep swimming at bay for another year.
I waited until my second child was around 2 1/2 because I didn't want her to develop a fear of the water and did a class at the Y that weaned parents out of the pool slowly. She did great and is swimming in class by herself now, although some of her old classmates ares still clinging to their parents. You just never know.

Hi M.
My kids are a little older now but I would highly recommend the Arlington Boy's and Girl's club. You can go online and get their brochure. We had great experiences there for all 3 of my kids. Good luck!

Hi M.-
I think that the Waltham YMCA has mommy and toddler swimming classes.
If you ever need childcare, I have a small home day care with quite a few Belmont kids attending. References from Belmont Co-op and Belmont Nursery as well as my moms can be provided.
Cheers,
G.

How about your local YMCA? I'm not sure which one would be closest for you...either Cambridge or maybe Waltham?
