We used the kiddopotamus wraps as well.. really loved them.. in the beginning we used the cotton (non stretchy) (like the receiving blankets) one because she really wanted us to wrap her up tight adn found that it gave that comfort she wanted and when she got a little older and moved around a little more we used the stretchy blankets cause it still comforted her but gave her a little more room to move. Swaddling was the only way we could get her to sleep in her own bed..

I don't remember the brand name but the one I had I got at Babies R Us and it had velcro spots to keep baby snug and secure.

Edit-Yes! Thank you AJ C! That's the one! I bought the lightweight cotton so baby wouldn't get too warm. I loved it because they had larger sizes and I didn't have to worry about her kicking out of it and getting tangled in the fabric once she started moving around more but wanted to be swaddled to go down. Also, they have the larger sizes for babies, like mine, that wanted to be swaddled past 3 months.

I also made some of the square blankies in the early days because I couldn't find any in stores that were large enough to swaddle properly. But loved the Kiddopotomus.

the kiddopotamus ones were awesome. We could change her diaper without totally unswaddling and they lasted forever!

Another possibility is the Woombie - perfect for the houdini child. Stretches just like the womb but they cannot get out like they can with the swaddle. Available at Once Upon A Child in San Antonio or online. Thanks.

The Miracle Blanket is the ONLY one I found that works! It is now what I give every new mom for a baby gift and every single one comes back to me a couple of months after their baby is born to thank me :)))

AJ C. is right. Get a look at the Dr. Karp video and see how to swaddle. We really liked some very soft, slightly stretchy cotton waffle weave blankets from Babies R Us. It was really easy to tuck the end back into itself to keep our little one secure.

Wal-mart sells one. It worked fairly well for my daughters and it is inexpensive so it fits everyone's budget.

Because you mention "really works"... I'll pipe in by saying my son HATED being swaddled from day 1. There was no faster way to guarantee that he was ticked off/ miserable/ and would not sleep than to swaddle him. Most babies love it, but many don't.

Moby (which makes an awesome wrap) has a true, 42x42 cotton swaddle blanket that is fabulous and grows with your child. My 21 month old, who is quite a big boy) still fits in it wrapped up when he needs some quiet, luvin' time with his mommy! They are here: http://www.mymammasmilk.com/MOBY.html

I had the velco one (from Babies R Us) - kiddopotamus I think. Didn't work well for me. My son would wriggle out of it, but not the Moby (I had a lavender one and a red one).
