Does anyone know of a support group for single mothers in the central Jersey area? I am just dealing with a lot of issues right now and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I just got out of an abusive relationship and I am going to counseling. I don't have any family or friends to turn to and my two little girls need a strong mother right now.

What can I do next?

Hi, from what I'm told, just about all churches have groups for help...whether it's an alcohol or drug problem, or even a problem like yours...you just have to find the right church (call around your area). I myself had been through a few abusive relationships, and am married right now with a wonderful 1 1/2 yr old lil girl. I am dealing with a somewhat abusive relationship (this time around it's verbal/emotional...when he is suffering, everyone else must suffer with him) and i'm trying counseling, but it's not really helping for me. I much prefer to talk to someone, even if just friends. If you'd like, you can talk to me...maybe that can help...but definitely call the churches in your area (from what i know, they don't ask that you be a part of the church for something like that). Good luck, I wish you and your daughters the best.

Not that I know in this area (Springfield). There is a support group in Livingston through Jewish Family Services. They run support groups. The first divorce, I joined the group and found it to be very useful. With the 2nd divorce I didn't. I unfortunely know what you are going through. It sucks. I am a single mom to 2 little boys and like you my ex was very abusive. Even though we are divorce he continues to be abusive. I am in counseling myself, and that helps a lot. Good luck.

Hi J.,
I am very glad you posted! I am happy to hear you got out of an abusive relationship and having counseling as well.

I offer a free service to moms: New Mom Coach. It's a coaching service and you can call the nmber on the website: http:www.leslynotes.com/mom.html, or email me and we can talk further. The important thing is to talk about what's going on and get the support you need.

I hope to hear from you. People care.
