Super Bowl Commercials

I didn't see many of last nights commercial ads (busy cleaning up the kitchen). But an article/blog I saw today on FB caught my attention and the author mentioned her son (5 y/o) questioning an ad where a man was trying to unbutton the shirt of a woman who was sleeping. Did you see this ad?

And...did your kids watch the ads? Did you think any of them were highly inappropriate? My son is 2.5, but if he were older, I don't really know if I would want him seeing commercials like "Go Daddy" with the supermodel kissing (quite audibly...gross!) the "nerd". Or two waitresses dancing around a stripper's pole. I vaguely remember the M&M ad, but even that seemed kind of inappropriate/too seductive.

Like I said, I didn't see many ads, those that I did see, I was not all that impressed. But then seeing that post today, it made me curious what others thought. So, what did you think? Anyone's kids question the content of any ads??

PS...My fave was Clydesdale ad...I am a sap for those types of ads! Least favorite was "Go Daddy" (and of course, of the 5 or so ads I saw, I had the pleasure of seeing that one twice).

What can I do next?

Budweiser made me cry.

Pistachio (gangnam style) made me laugh.

Taco Bell's old people one made me chuckle.

Beyond that, most were barely entertaining.

I liked the Clydesdale ad the best.
Sooooo cute!

My 9 year old watched everything and didn't bat an eye at much.
He did mumble "blecccch" at Beyonce.
He's at the girl hater phase.

we had a large party and most of the kids are in the 6-8 yo range and busy playing not watching. I was chatting and didn't see much. even though that is the only thing i actually cared to watch, i think fball is boring and those teams meant nothing to me.

the godaddy nerd/supermodel was really gross, I love 2 broke girls but found that inappropriate as well. didn't see the whole thing but was it a coke a cola add with vegas showgirls and cowboys ??? and then doritos with men dressed up as showgirls?? and beyonce and her lingerie bootie shaking isn't something we usually expose our kids tooo so half time didn't please me too much either. I missed the unbuttoning the shirt commerical.

I sort of feel like if it was just half time, or just one commercial it might not bug me too much, but it just seemed like everytime i glanced over i was hoping the kids weren't around to see it.

so 2 thumbs down from me in hicksville.

Overall, I thought the whole atmosphere of this year's Super Bowl was hypersexualized. The "Go Daddy" commercial grossed me out. I ended up seeing very little of the game and commercials, but what I did see was very heavy on innuendo and scantily clad women.

My 18 year old was fake gagging and turned her head at the supermodel one. We just laughed.. it was pretty gross though.

We had no issues with any of them... LOVED the Doritos (I am partial because my corporate life was marketing in Frito-Lay and part of my job was the ads)

We love the show 2 Broke Girls so we didn't view that as inappropriate.

Liked the M&M's as well.

THere are the WORST commercials on during sports. I have boys that are at very impressionable ages and its horrible what they have to witness duirng the commercial breaks. And they do know the references-most of them. And what they don't know they get to guess at which is just as bad. I hate the impression of women that they get the most. And not watching is not an option-they love sports and should not have to miss it because of vulgar adults who have bad taste and no morals.

I didn't watch last night but DH was really mad about that GoDaddy spot.

Go Daddy grossed me out entirely....think I even threw up in my mouth a bit :( If I were ever going to use their service, this ad changed my mind. I'll never use them. Gross.

My favorite was the tide commercial...but then I'm a RAVENS fan so that one really had me laughing :)

Peace and Blessings,

I didn't watch the game or the commercials, but one got posted to facebook by two of my friends. It was the Jeep/USO commercial. Both of the women who posted it, as well as I, are military spouses with deployed husbands. We are also all on the tail end of our deployment. I bawled. Just flat out bawled.... lol. I keep meaning to catch the Dodge Ram farmer one as most of my extended family farms.

I didn't see the ads but have given thought to kids seeing inappropriate stuff. What I've seen and others have suggest is that if it's inappropriate the basis for the activity goes over the head of the children. In the example of the 5 yo who asked about unbuttoning the shirt, he's unaware of the sexual connotation. So just a simple answer, even a I don't know will be enough to stop the probe. An answer might be something along the lines of, "that was pretty silly wasn't it."

The woman sleeping ad - a guy was getting dressed to leave and realized that the girl was sleeping in his t-shirt. One of those, 'I like this undershirt so much I can't leave without it' things.

I didn't like the Calvin Klein ad. My kids kept saying 'ew'.

I did see the Go Daddy ad. I think if they had done it, with a short kiss, and not a long drawn out close-up, that it would've been an okay, if not good, ad.

there were 2 really good commercials last night. the farm one was great and the Clydesdale horse one made me cry lol. but other than that didn't like any of them. the gangnam style one was funny til the end when he was riding the nut and that was tacky. hated the go daddy one but have hated all of the godaddy ones from the start of that company

I hope you all know that you can see all the Super Bowl commercials on YouTube.

I waited until friends posted "Here's a great one!" on Facebook, and then looked at it on YouTube. I was watching the Puppy Bowl rather than the Super Bowl.
