Hi. A friend of mine just told me about this camp at the Westside JCC (Olympic near Fairfax) that she heard great things about called Super Duper Arts Camp. I checked out the website (it's something like superdupersartscamp.com) and it looks fabulous - so creative and so many things to do.
Good luck!

Hi B. -

I'm sure someone else is going to repond to you with the info about SummerSounds at the Hollywood Bowl, which is the kid program. If not, you can go to the LA Phil website or google SummerSounds and it will have all the details.

What it might not have yet is the following info: The host of SummerSounds, Jamey Hood, works for me as Kindermusik Educator. She has given me the insiders scoop that this years SummerSounds program will not be six weeks with a different show each week. It will still be six weeks but the show will remain the same for two weeks. So you'll only see three different shows, not all six.

Just something to keep in mind while you're planning.

Good Luck :)

I used to work for a software company in Hancock Park when my daughter was 5. Believe it or not, the best choice for us was the YMCA near the Grove, off 3rd street. They were wonderful and did lots of fun stuff with the children. Unfortunately, I can't remember the info but I'm sure you could call information and check it out.

Good luck!

Dear B.,
The Hollywood Bowl has a music program for kids where they learn about music from different countries each week. Check out the website. Tickets for this go on sale end of April. My son really liked it. I'm not sure if they give lessons.

Take Care,

L.

Larchmont Charter School offers is offering Summer Camp program for the first time this summer. It will be on the Hollygrove campus - Vine just north of Melrose. It looks great! It is staffed by the amazing teachers and teaching assistants. The kids will learn about different cultures each week at camp, swim and have lots of fun, i'm sure! http://www.larchmontcharter.org
Also, the Hollywood Bowl does offer Summer Sounds, their kid's music program for the summer. It's a lot of fun, we've done it with our 4&7 year olds for a few years! you can also go to watch rehearsals. www.hollywoodbowl.com/education/summersounds.cfm

I am not yet a mother, but I grew up in LA and did attend Beverly Hills YMCA Day Camp. Although it is no longer there, the Westside Family YMCA should.

I had a great time every year!

LA Dept of Parks and Rec also offers programs similar:

Here is a link for the bowl-- I don't think it's music classes, actual hands on, but you may want to check it out:

My friend has a great studio on Pico near Fairfax: "Creative Seeds"
http://growcreativeseeds.com/

she usually offers a great program in the summer including dance, music, art, theater, yoga, etc. I'm sure you can send her an email and she'd get back to you right away. The vibe is very warm, supportive and welcoming. I can't wait to get my baby-to-be there!

Hope this helps! Have a great summer.
