Does anyone know of a nearby summer camp or activities for teens? I have a 14 yr old boy that plays basketball, drums, and is quite physically active. I want to find something to get a little busy in the summer. Any suggestions? (doesn't have a "camp") I live in the east Fort Worth/Hurst area.

What can I do next?

My boys go to a summer camp in Hunt Texas. It is a true camp in that he would be gone for 4 weeks. I was very nervous about sending my sons away but they loved it. It is called Camp Stewart and they are great! Empowering, responsible, exciting.

Hi Jacqlene,
I don't know what area you live in but if you are near Ft. Worth there is the YMCA-Camp Carter. I started taking my son there when he was 8 till he was about 10 or 11 during the summer. The kids hiked, played volleyball, swam and did all sorts of activities. I hope the camp is still around my son is now almost 18 so check it out it may be just what you need.
Hope your son likes it. Good luck.
J.

Hello! Since he likes basketball, I would suggest the Dallas Mavs Hoop Camp. It's only one week long, they have several sessions all summer. My daughter did it last year, and we've signed her up for this year, also. It is a little expensive, but she really enjoyed it. They get pictures, a jersey, cards w/their info on them. She even got to meet a couple of Mavs players. Just go to the mavs website to check it out. They have them at different high schools each week, so you should be able to find one close to you. My daugher is 15 this year, and my nephew goes too. He's 16 this year, and he really enjoys it.
