I live in Galveston County and i am off on Friday's. I was looking for something to do/take the kids to do every other week or so (on Friday's) as a treat away from the house and while it is not so crowded out. I always take my nephew (5 1/2) my son (21 months) and a friend of mine with her kids, girls (6, 4 and 21 months). I dont mind driving into Houston, such as the Zoo or Children's Museum. Thanks in advance for your help!!

The library has a reading time & program for the kids. You can sign them up & for every 10 books they read or are read to them, they get prizes. And 3 days a week they have storytime. My 14 month old LOVES it!

Angleton Natatorium is supposed to be fun.

http://www.activityreg.com/clientmainpage.asp?cid=ANGLETON

State-of-the-art Natatorium
The natatorium includes a zero depth entry, an interactive play structure with water blasters, mini slides, a water curtain, lazy river, and a giant tipping bucket of water spilling periodically. Swimmers can also enjoy a 26 foot slide which winds its way down into a 4-foot pool of water. Attached to the interactive play structures is a 25-meter pool used primarily for fitness programs, lap swimming, and recreational swimming.

Also I recommend Galveston beach park pocket #2. It's by the Escapes Resort and it's a nice family atmosphere.

The Kemah Boardwalk is fun. Of course, try and avoid Sat and Sun (they get packed) they have games and rides. Also, how about Space center Houston on Nasa Rd 1.? There is also Armond Bayou Nature walk on Bay Area Blvd. Then, of course, the various parks around.
I know how you feel. I, too, live in Galveston County. It can sometimes be a challenge to find things to do, not to mention when its 100 degrees out!!!
Hope ya'll have fun!!!
Margaret :)

one of our favorite things to do when our kids were younger was to ride the ferry in galveston. i don't know how long you've lived in the area, or how many things you've already done, but this one you can do over and over. we don't usually wait in line to drive the car on the ferry. we park in the parking lot, then walk on. that way you only have to wait until the next one docks. we buy a cheap loaf of bread at a discount bread store, (or save stale bread and heels) to feed the sea gulls at the back of the boat. i usually let the kids pick out a snack at the bread store too. you ride the ferry across, then ride it back, and your car is waiting for you.
there are tons of things to do in galveston. something else that we enjoyed was the duck tour in galveston. it's not cheap, but it's a novelty, and kids enjoy it.

You can do the museum of natural science, chuck e cheese, arboteum park in clear lake, bellaire nature center in bellaire, tx, and the library for story time. Hopes this helps.

Well, my kids love the park and the beach - easy enough, and pretty cheap. There's also McDonalds playscape dates in Dickinson or Chick Fil A at Bay Area or the Jump'N Jungle over next to Garden Ridge at Nasa Rd 1. I think there's a place in the shopping center across from Baybrook that you can paint ceramic stuff (closer to the highway end of the strip center), but I'm not positive that it's there anymore. You might also want to take them to the library and do your own little story time with everybody, if the regularly scheduled one is not something you can get to.

Here is a place you might not be familiar with, web site:
http://www.bayouwildlifepark.com/ - This is a really neat place to take children, it is located in Alvin. Also a thought is the Health Museum, (in Houston) http://www.mhms.org/ , just went recently and I saw all the kids enjoying this place plus me. Hope this helps.
