Hi Ladies,
I am asking for any/all suggestions of what is "NEW" & helpful/holistic for a 3 week premi/boy. He is now extremely constipated to where he screams to the point of loosing his breath. My daughter doesn't live with me, she lives with her boyfriend who is not much help... When I have had him, I have tried massaging his belly, exersising his little legs to his chest, warm bath. Took them to the ER it was so bad, they used a "glycerin" (sp) sypository, helped just a tiny bit. I haven't done this in so long I am not sure if there is something good out there now or any good home remedies that will help to eleviate his pain & help them get some sleep. thank you all in advance for your help! Blessings to all

I'm dealing with constipation with my 8 month old and we are controling it without medication (which I didn't want to give her). We give her prunes and pear juice - I know you can't give a 3 week old prunes - but I'm pretty sure you can add like 2 Tablespoons of pear juice to his bottle. I'd ask the doctor, but that's what my doctor recommended to us when our baby girl was really young. He said that the pear juice has more fiber in it and actually works better than prune juice (probably tastes better too!).
Hopefully this helps. I know I feel helpless when my little girl is trying to go and she starts crying. Good luck!

I had that little problem with my little one and at times until they changed her formula I have to us a q-tip with some vasaline and just inserted the tip of it in the rectum to stimulate it and that seemed to help her go, but keep in mind they will go when you do this so keep the diaper under their butt. Also you might want to try dark karo syrup but being so young you might want to ask the Dr. I still use that every once in a while. hope this helps and good luck!! K.

At 3 weeks the sypository should work. I did that for my son. He was always constipated and we did that. I also used karosyrup at a young age. I put some dark karo in his formula and that helped too. Try both. we also used a rectal thermometer which helped. You have to be very careful with that though. The legs to the chest is good as you did. I hope some of the advice helps from everyone. Its hard because you feel bad for them. THey are so helpless. best to you.

is the baby on formula?? if he is that maybe the issue. Alot of formulas use milk protien which isnt good if the baby is lactose intolerent.
