I'm at home this summer with my 3 boys (5 years, 3 years and 1year) and am trying to plan a small activity for each day to keep the day somewhat regimented since the older two are used to attending early childhood school each morning. Does anyone have any great suggestions for something that doesn't require lots of materials or prep work that they would both enjoy?

Any great websites that have suggestions or ideas for things like this? t's hard because the 1 year old wants to be in the middle or played with if I'm working with the other two so it can't need tons of hands-on Mom help.

I'd also like some suggestions for inexpensive day trips/outings around the DFW metroplex that i could do with all three of them. We already take full advantage of the library:)
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Play 'school', my kids love this on rainy days!! Ask the 5 year olds teacher (if he was in kindergarten this past year) for any extra worksheets or workbooks, they just throw them out anyway. The older child can even 'teach' the younger ones. You could have art class... bust out the sidewalk chalk or paints. You could have art class... get them each a simple instrument (bongos for the baby!!)... I do this every summer with my older ones, to keep them up to speed with what they learned the past school year, and keep them entertained.

Now would probably be an awesome time to start teaching them more responsibility and chores... every summer my girls get a few new daily chores. We start this in the summer so they have a few months to practice before they go back to school and get overwhelmed ;)

Libraries are great. Public pools can be nice too depending on the area and crowd. Museums often have free or discount days as well as movie theaters. Local parks and also play areas at McDonalds are great too. I love their $1 menu. Getting them to exercise their imagination is key. Wooden blocks, dress up (pirates, police, firemen, doctors), at those ages we couldn't live without our Tonka trucks.

Day trips to local farms are great. Different farms grow differnt things. They can learn to pick food you would pay for and bring it home and eat it. Zoos are great too. It's all about the adventure of exploring new things and everything is so new to them. Enjoy life and living with your little ones.

My kids loved to help out in the garden. They each had teepees of pole beans (grow really fast and the vines go up the legs of the teepee) and tended to a lot of the other plants. We grew flowers that they could pick and give to grandparents, neighbors, and friends.

We'd make ice pops out of juice and they'd eat them outside in their bathing suits and play in the kiddie pool after. We tended not to go on a lot of outings during the summer and instead had friends over for good old fashion fun in the yard.
