I got great suggestions last year for 2nd grade last year so I thought I'd ask again. I'm the mystery reader for my son's class and need something that can be read in 15 min. It doesn't have to have pictures but I was looking for something funny. The last mom read something called The book with no pictures. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Teacher from the Black Lagoon series is good and 3rd graders love them. I just read one of them to a 3rd grade class I was covering. I know they were also reading Diary of a Fly and Diary of a Worm.

A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting. I think I suggested that one last year, too.

Patricia Polacco has some great books! Some are tear jerkers so you definitely want to read ahead of time. My 3rd grade daughter likes Thunder Cake.

Chris Van Allsburg's books are really good too! I love all of his.

True Story of the Three Little Pigs or The Frog Prince Continued are fun fractured fairy tales that I read to my class every year when I taught 3rd grade.
