My 9 month old son is breastfeeding and not enjoying solid food yet. I am looking for some ideas on healthy meals and snacks. He does not love anything, I have tried making my own food and from jars. He will eat fresh mashed banana with baby oatmeal mixed with cooked dried pureed apricots, fresh applesauce, and baked/pureed sweet potato. The only food he seems to really like are teething biscuits and baby cookies (both wheat-free) from Whole Foods. I have tried to give him cooked cubed carrots, cubed pears and banana, he is not interested. Tried broccoli-no, sort of liked zuchinni. Look forward to your input!

Since about 6 or 7 months my daughter has loved Cheerios! They are a wonderful non-messy finger food. She is now 11 months & eats just about anything. She hates for me to "feed her" - she would much prefer to feed herself. So I started with the Cheerios & watched her the 1st few weeks & moved her to animal cookies or graham crackers & now she can & will eat chunks of chicken, veggies, etc. BUT try to start the Cheerios because mine just loves the bright yellow box. If she is "starving" & I need a little time to prepare her meal, I can put her in her highchair & put a few Cheerios on her tray to keep her until I have her breakfast/lunch/dinner prepared.

Hello.
I know I'm a little slow to respond but I have a suggestion that helped me through picky eating times that my son went through around a year ago. Try a book called Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron. I got mine at half priced books. Even if you have no interest in making all the recipes, It gives you ideas and guidlines on what your child needs right now and good ideas on how to reach those goals.
Personal suggestion. Try Lentils and brown rice. throw it all in the blender to make like refried bean texture. My son LOVED this. Super Healthy too. (Complete Protien Combination) You can also hide all sorts of things in there. A hand full of broccoli blended with it and you know it's there but your picky son may not. Biggest Suggestion. Don't stop trying to introduce healthy food, the struggle will last only a little bit if you are consistant in your good choices! People are amazed with how my son gobbles up his veggies. Keep the nursing up! Good Luck!

I am so glad I am not the only one. It seems all the babies in my playgroup eat so well. My son is 12 months and still barely eats any solid foods. He eats Gerber Puffs and Cheerios; other than that the one thing I have found that he loves is Farley's Rusks. They are a British baby food, you can buy them in the Kroger International food section. They are similar to the teething cookies you have already mentioned though... but may may for some variety. My son will also eat (and I know this is odd) pretty much anything I give him from On The Border! He'll eat chicken, cheese and other things there that he won't touch at home. Just keep trying new things and try them many times. Give him a bite of your meal every day so long as it is safe for him, and they tell me eventually he'll start eating it! Good luck!

I have read that if you keep trying a food by at least the 8th time your baby will take to it. Hang in there it is a difficult stage.

When my son hit this stage I started introducing the organic cereal fruit bars I found at Sprouts. He absolutely loved the apple cobbler ones. Have you tried mashed avocado? My son also went through a zuchinni stage. He would practically drink it. As long as he is still being breast fed let him experiment with having favorites. He may be teething and hard biscuits may feel good. Maybe try letting him dip the biscuits into applesauce or yogurt. This phase will soon pass. Good Luck!!!
