oriental products is a craft catalog for teachers, daycares, everyone that you can buy from online or by mailed catalog. The craft catalog online and by mail has a wooden table and two chair set that normally is $99.95 that is on sale for $49.95 and the table has a large chalkboard in the center.

Have tried IKEA? I know they have plastics ones, but they might have a wood one.

IKEA they have tons of cute tables for kids. I would just buy a HUGE pad of paper and let them go to town on that and not a table. They might get confused as to why they can't write on all the tables.

We got a wooden table with two chair at IKEA. We got it when my son was 1 year old and now he's 4 years old and still uses it. My daughter is now a year old and is starting to use it. It is great for eating snacks, doing crafts and playing. The chairs are very sturdy and I can even sit on them without worrying about breaking them. We stained and varnished it and whenever he gets crayons or marker on it I just clean it with a wet towel and it comes right off. The table and chair set was only $39.99 at IKEA, here is a link to the set: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/87474709 Otherwise I see they have another set for $19.99 http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20072816 I'm sure you can call ahead of time to make sure they have it in stock.

Not sure how much you were wanting to spend but you could try a preschool/ early childhhod supplier such as Discount School Supply or Early Childhood Manufacturers Direct (ECMD). They have lots of selections and sizes. Not to mention if you get one from there it last throughout your daughters entire childhood! They are both online!

We got a table and folding chair set at Bed BAth & Beyond. IT has a washable top. Also as decoration it has the abc's around the edge of the table (on top) and numbers 1-10. Its not a wood table. My kids love theirs! I believe it was $29.99, come with 2 chairs and they also had extra chairs to but too ( they are all colored in the primary colors)

We bought a set from Babies R Us just like you described. Somewhere between $60-$80 if I remember correctly and that includes 2 chairs. They had a good selection. It is a good purchase. Our oldest is 7 now and it is still in good shape and gets daily use. One mistake I made - picked one out that had pretty flowers all over it. Then we had two boys. So it stays in our daughter's room. Luckily, we just had another girl, so it will get at least another 8+ years of use.

I would encourage you to teach her to write/color on paper. My friend got a big wipe off board and her husband put legs on it. It was GREAT.... until her 18 month old figured if she could write on that table, why not all the tables, adn proceeded to color on thier mahogony kitchne table, thier end tables, coffee table... etc.

You can find quality kids tables just about anywhere, and while its a good idea to varnish it so if there is a coloring accident you can just wipe it up, but I would teach her to color on paper soas to avoid any mishaps in the future.
