I am looking for a sugar cookie recipe. I love the taste of the cookies that Cookies by Design makes. Does anyone have one that makes those thick cookies that can be made into lollipops with frosting on the top? Do you have the frosting recipe too?
I want to make them for a Baby meet and greet that we have been invited to.
Thank you

I use this one for everything!! Soft, firm and thick. the flavor and texture cant be beat! They are always the first to disappear.

NOTES:
- make sure the dough is well chilled ( I leave it over night)
- roll it out between 2 sheets of saran wrap dusted w/ flour. (dough will be sticky)
- Add flour as needed when rolling out. Try to use as little as possible, but enough so that you can roll.
- dip your cutters into flour before cutting
- Use a 1/3 of the dough at a time.
- When baking, watch your first batch and see how long it takes for them to bake - each oven is different. you want them just golden on the bottom and barely on the edges.

D.'s Sugar cookies:

3 cups flour
1 TBSP baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1-1/4 cup sugar
1 cup butter, soft
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

FROSTING
6 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter, soft
4 teaspoons vanilla
milk to consistency

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Mix all other ingredients in a separate bowl first, then add half to the wet mixture. Add the rest of the flour mix, and chill at least 4 hours.

Bake at 350 until edges are just brown.

Mix all ingredients for frosting, adding milk until it reaches desired consistency.

Here is my sugar cookie recipe.

Mix together two and a half cups flour, half teaspoon baking soda, and three fourths a teaspoon of salt. Set aside.

Cream together half a cup of butter, half cup of shortening, one cup sugar, one teaspoon vanilla.

Add one egg mix well

Slowly add dry.

When blended add 2 tablespoons of milk.

Drop by spoonful onto cookie sheet. Flatten with glass bottom dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 for about 10 minutes.

I've never tried to frost them before. I just eat them as is but they are thicker sugar cookies. Not sure how you'd make them into lollipops. Here is a recipe that I just found on allrecipe that may be more what you are looking for.

Sarah's Cakes and Cookie Supply located in Troy, square lake and john R, has a website and their sugar cookie recipe is fabulous. It is on their websie under cookies. I would give you the website but I always google the store to find the website. But they offer cookie decorating classes and they use this recipe which tastes just like the cookies from cookies by design. I hope you find you like it as much as us. :)
