Hi moms~

My son is 11 mos old and he has recently started breaking out with a small red raised rash on his belly. Also he gets whelps on his head and neck and belly. I am wondering if he is allregic to my detergent? I am using the Tide with baking soda. They sell it at Babies R Us with the Dreft brand. I have used it since he was born but I just wondered if he could all the sudden be allergic to it? I haven't changed anything else like bath soap, foods or much so I thought I would see if anyone knows about allergic reactions? Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Spoke to a nurse at my sons doctors office and she said that since it seems to come and go that it is probably an allergic reaction to maybe his new clothes. I have washed them all but she said the dye in some clothes could be causing it. They told me to put Benadryle cream on him when it shows up and if that doesnt seem to help then they will see about some allergy tests!!!

My daughter did that and it was from heat. Have you tried putting baby powder on at bedtime and naps?

I use Tide Free detergent and have had good luck. Do you use dryer sheets? My dad, at 75 years old, developed an allergy to the dryer sheets my mom used for over 20 years. The rash my father got sounds similar to your son's.

Hi Cassey, I know I'm a day late but hope you'll read this. It sounds more like an ear infection or strep rather than allergies. You should check with your doctor.

i completely agree with michelle!!!! i am also a melaleuca preferred customer and i am telling you there are soooo many cleaning products, soaps, detergents, etc. that cause allergies, breathing problems, and accidental/unknown poisonings. i strongly urge you to contact michelle or myself for more information. once you know about the toxins in the these everyday products purchased at wal-mart/supermarket...you will be astonished. your family is 100% worth it.

here's to total wellness!!!

It definitely could be an allergy. You might try switching to a "free" detergent (All Free & Clear, etc.) and see if it makes an improvement.

My son suddenly developed allergies to just about everything at the age of 6 & had to start taking allergy shots. Since then I have had to change alot of the everyday items I purchase regularly (detergent, soaps, cleaning products etc...) I have started using Melaluca products & it has helped out. If you want more information email me ____@____.com.

It could be a virus. There is a bunch of nasty viruses going around right now. My daughter had a bad rash all over her body a few weeks ago. I wouldn't see how the detergent could all of the sudden cause a rash since you've been using it the whole time.
Just a thought.

At any point you can develope an allergy to anything, food, detergent or medications. To find out you have to eliminate one item at a time and give it time.
