Stupid Idea... or Not? What Did YOU Do?

My fiance and I are getting married this coming June. My little brother asked if he was having a bachelor party, which got me thinking about bachelor/bachlorette parties. In a perfect world, I was thinking that the guys go do guy stuff for a few hours, while me and my ladies went and did girl stuff for a while... I was thinking dinner, drinks, maybe OTB (off track betting on the horse races)... then all the guys and gals meet up a few hours later and have a big blow out blast!! (I say this because we're literally splitting married couples in half here, husbands on one side, wives on the other, who WOULDN'T want to meet up and have fun as friends and family, right?)

Our wedding is small and nontraditional... so I kind of want to go against the grain as far as the traditional bachelor/bachelorette parties. I think it would be fun for everyone to meet up 1/2 way through the night!!

Thoughts? Suggestions? What did you and your hubby do?

What can I do next?

I love it! Anytime you can get the wedding party and their significant others to all do things together is just more fun for everyone!

We planned my sisters last year. It was combined (most of us were already married also). We rented a big blow up boxing ring, huge tent (for food and alcohol) and had everyone bring camping tents (to spend the night). We all wound down around a big firepit. It was so much fun.

I think that's a great idea! As a married woman, I'd be very happy to go to a bachelorette party like that. I'd be really fun to meet up with the guys later!

I had a big all day blow out for my bachelorette party.
My husband just went golfing, out to Hooters and to a club with one of his guy friends.

If most of your friends are married, then I say go ahead and meet up. What's going to happen if you do? Are the bachelorette party police going to arrest you? LOL! If you, your husband to be and all your friends are fine with meeting up at a later time, then do it! :D

ALTHOUGH...I would suggest having some girl time at a bar before you meet up with the guys. :)

LOVE IT! I have a blast with my husband- he's so much fun. I hope your husband agrees with your idea because I think it sounds great.

Let them go do their "guy stuff"... ** that you don't want to know about! ;) ** and then meet up for a nightcap with everyone and toast to your upcoming wedding!

Have a great time!

My husband and I had our parties during separate weekends. He went to Atlantic City with some buddies for the weekend and the following weekend, my girlfriends and I went out to dinner, then barhopping. We met up with my (future) husband and his friends toward the end of the night though, and I was fine with that! It was fun. Do whatever YOU want to do. It's your party! :)

Everyone I've known to get married had done it that way.

When my hubby and I got married, we didn't do a separate thing. We just got together with our friends and went to the pool hall where we always hung out. People there knew us so everyone was buying our drinks, then the manager cut the bar tab in half at the end of the night.

My fiance and i haven't even set a date, but my MOH and i have this kind of planned out. We are planning to do a toy party in the early evening with just us girls, and then meet up with the boys and go to a strip club (one of my favorite things to do. The strippers like me more than my fiance). i'm kind of thinking to do a dinner before the toy party because my fiance's little sis is going to be in my wedding party and she's not old enough to do the toy parties or the bar. but i think it would be an awesome night.

Sounds like a great plan! My hubby and I had separate things, but if I had been in your position I would have totally suggested something like that. My friends and family were mostly out of state, so we did our own thing - a wine tasting/spa weekend. My hubby enjoys boxing and poker, so they ordered a fight and played cards all night long.

We had separate parties...he went to Vegas, only because he was from California, and at the time, many of his friends were still in the West, so he was kind of meeting them there.

Mine was fun girly time, but basically tame. the girls took me to V.S. and bought me some lingerie, then to dinner, and back to my place for some junk food and girl time.

I had friends who had a "Jack and Jill" party. A big party with men and women together. they had some vegas type games, etc.

i say, do what you both want!

We chose NOT to do this "tradition". We didn't feel like we were losing ourselves by getting married so no need to go crazy without each other one last time!

SOunds good to me but how does your fiance feel about it? I don't know many guys who would want to sacrifice their bachelor party this way.

I think that sounds pretty cool, I would just pitch to the other people involved and see what they think...we didn't do anything like that, keeping it all separate the whole night, but we didn't really think of it at the time. Hubby enjoyed having his time with the guys and yes, they went to a strip club, but I figured that would happen and frankly, I didn't care - did not bother me a bit, since he never does stuff like that anyway. Us girls went to a bar with dueling pianos and had a blast!
