Stroller/Carseat HELP!

SO, I had already picked out an infant carseat (orange Chicco Keyfit) Love it! My husband even likes this one the best and picking out baby things is not his idea of fun and excitement, and I really do like including him.... Rewind to a couple weeks ago, we were at REI and they had a 2010 model BOB revolution dualie there on clearance for an awesome price and my DH bought it for me. The Sales rep told him that the universal carseat adapter would fit a Chicco carseat (even though it didn't list Chicco brand on the box). Well I had some serious doubt so I emailed BOB directly and they said that it wasn't compatible with the carseat..BOO. So now that you have the background my question is..... How important is it that the infant carrier fits on the stroller... do you think it's even realistic to think that I wouldn't care if I had to put the baby in the stroller everytime I used it....we used a travel system with the DD but her stroller was uncomfortable and I hadn't discoverd "the snuzzler"... Opinions please. Go ahead and buy the Chicco or buy the Graco snugride, which is compatible with the BOB???

Edit** I do plan on keeping the BOB no matter what, I just don't know about the carseat...:) Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I think I am going to get the Chicco carseat and see if it fits with my BOB stroller as some of you said they fit... Besides my DD will like having the tray reguardless of if the carseat will fit with the new baby's carseat....I will be using it mostly for walking, because well I am out of shape and wont be running for awhile, lol:) Also, I really wont be using it inside stores very much, we only have 1 outside mall in my area and it's outside so I my BOB will do, they aren't cheap so I am absolutely not buying another one, even if its a cheap snap and go. I do have a single stroller if I don't have the DD with me but I guess I should have been more clear, the Dualie is a double stroller...and so the snap and go's doesn't work as I have a 2 year old! Thanks for the suggestion though.... If I didn't have any other kiddos I probably would have did that. My DD loved her carseat and I loved the travel system, but our stroller we had didn't fit her well until she was 6 months so I never got to try it out on her when she was a newborn. If for some reason the carseat doesn't fit, I just wont use it, and since I am due in the summer I will walk right away so the LO doesn't get a chance to have an opinion! lol:) Thanks for all your input!

I think I would keep what you have. A great deal on a BOB is so worth it, and the Chicco car seat is super safe. You do not have to use the car seat when using the stroller, it may just be a bit more convienent. And, the stroller will far outlast the infant car seat.

I use a chicco key fit with the BOB. It works fine (make sure you use red seat belt to secure seat to stroller better), however... my son is 4 months now and we use the insert from his car seat in the BOB and he is enjoying it even more especially when we are just walking from the house (we also use a pillow...wraps around his head sort of pillow). We recline it as far as the BOB will go, which isn't far, but it's enough. He will put his feet up on the car seat carrier bars. It's super cute and he is very comfortable. That being said, I had the Snugride with my first daughter about 5 years ago, and I do remember liking my Snugride over the Key fit. With that being said though, they are similar and they also grow out of them so quickly. You will LOVE your BOB though. It is by far the best stroller I have ever owned or used! The combo is fine though, it really is, especially if you are just strolling around. I would not use it for running though... too top heavy for any car seat to safely run with it IMO....

I used my chicco with my Bob and had no probs. you just have to really pysh the carseat onto it and of course use the safety strap, but it worked fine.

My boys hated their infant carriers so we never used it in the stroller we would just recline the stroller and put baby in.

I would recommend getting a (relatively cheap) snap n go frame for the infant car seat - you don't need the big stoller to put it on really...then, when you decide that the baby is big enough to be in the stroller and doesn't need the infant seat (for us it was around 6 months) you can use the BOB (a great stroller) and not lug the infant seat everywhere *unless you are going to dinner and the baby is sleeping!!! then leave him/her in the bucket!)

Buy the snap n go frame stroller for use during first 6 months it will make life way easier ...u can getthem cheap on Craigslist. Then when u r done u just resell on Craigslist it is super light and so much easier to start out especially if u end up having a csection

We have a single Bob and it is roomy- neither one of our babies fit very comfortably in it when they were young. We took the youngest to a parade when she was 5 months old and she kept falling to the side. (She is 10 months now and we went on a walk today and she loved it.) I'm not sure if other moms share this experience, but we always used the carseat when she was younger because of this.

Also, I personally love the convenience of leaving the baby in the carseat- it is so much easier to transfer a sleeping baby if you don't have to get them out of the harness and into the stroller.

You are going to LOVE the Bob- I wish I had a dualie!

Have you tried to fit the Chicco on the Bob? I don't remember the Graco fitting perfectly on the Bob or anything, we always used the red strap and the Bob conversion kit also came with a foam rectangular pad to put under the carseat at that time- don't know if it still does or if they fixed that. (We have a 2008 Bob I think...) I think you should try the carseat and see if you can get it to work before you buy a different carseat.

You're not required to use a carrier style carseat at all. My son HATED his so we never got the "benefit" of using it in the stroller, cart, restaurant, etc. We've already decided the if/when we have another baby, we're going straight to the convertible.

There's no reason you can't just take the baby out of the carseat and lay him/her in the stroller instead of worrying about the carseat fitting onto it.

Babies need to be handled not shuttled from around in a conveyance. Get the stroller you want. Believe me a stroller that you settle for will irritate you more often than toothpaste all around the sink.
Pick the baby up and put and put her/him in the stroller you like and then when you get to the car you'll hold him/her as you adjust your infant in the car seat.

So my opinion. Return the Chicco carseat. I think it is fairly important that it fit in and also, its gonna be a huge pain taking the baby out and putting it in the stroller everytime. Are planning on using the BOB for running?
I would buy the Graco snugride and also get the Graco snap n go, that way you don't always have to use the big stroller. The snap n go can be a much better, quicker, lighter option while they are in the infant seat.

I just read some of the other answers. I think baby trend makes a snap n go that would fit the chicco. best of both worlds.

Does the Chicco carseat work with a light weight stroller frame? I can't remember the name of the one I had 5 years ago when I had our DD, but I used a black frame with our carseat instead of the travel system stroller. It was easier to use and I could get it in and out of the car easier on my own. I have a Graco travel system, so the frame may also be Graco, but it may have been a universal one. Hope this helps!

I love the Chicco Keyfit. I personally would keep it and find a snap n go for when baby is really small and then use the BOB later when baby is bigger.

You could keep the carseat AND stroller. What I would do is get one of those strollers that is basically just a frame. I LOVED mine when I had one (not sure what brand I had anymore) because it weighs a lot less than a regular stroller and is easy to get in/out of the vehicle. I found one on Babies R Us that is compatible w/ Chicco.

When the baby out-grows that, you'll still have the other stroller.
Hope it helps :)

I have a BOB dualie and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! My first 2 are 14 months apart, and I didn't get it until the youngest one was 1.5, but they still fit at 5 and 4 and it is still easy to push with that much weight.

The backs recline almost flat, so I would think with a head rest like you put in carseats for infants that you could just lie your baby in there as long as you were walking and not jogging until the baby was a little older.

I'm not sure if you have discovered it yet, but the dualie is narrow enough to fit through doorways, so it isn't bad to take shopping. The one thing I will say is I have had several flat tires, and when I fixed the last one the guy at the bike store recommended putting some of the green slime in all of them before they go flat.
