Friends want to get us a stroller and I have no idea what to tell them. Any suggestions? We will be doing some traveling, so something lightweight is probably best. Any suggestions are appreciated.

What can I do next?

we went thru 3 strollers. The lightweight ones are good but definately for the older child. We finally found our match in the peg perego plinko. We got it at babies r us. It has a snack tray(very important-even to hold toys) it also has a flat seat (so they dont arch and slide right out). My daughter hated being strapped in and it is kind of inclosed so she could sit and i didnt have to worry about her. Also it has a great sunshade. Weve had it almost 2 years and love love it. It also isnt that heavy.

Hi there!
It all depends on what you will use it for.
Are you a person to take long walks with the baby? You'll need something that reclines to a flat position for the baby those first 4 months or so.
If you'll mostly use it now and then when shopping at the mall, then choose something that you can just click the car seat into. (Tons of different ones available)
Yes, most manufacturers state the infant car seat can be used up to 12 months of age, when in reality most babies outgrow them by 5-6 months age. (And then you'll need a larger car seat - a convertible one) Because of this, I'd have to say that the advice about the Snap And Go is really great for those first 5-6 months. Economical too!
One of my friends had one for both of her babies, and then used a regular stroller for them, and at that time a slight recline was ok if they wanted to nap in the stroller, and they were old enough to like sitting up in it.
I would not spend hundreds of dollars on something that will in reality only be used for maybe 6 months. (Like those old fashioned buggies etc)
But, only you can decide what you need the stroller for!
So I would go and try them all out in the store, hopefully there is a baby store close to your house that you can spend some time folding, clicking and zipping around the aisles in!
Oh, I had a Evenflo Combo (Stroller w/ matching car seat) first, that the seatbelts on the car seat defaulted after 4 months (terrible!) changed it to a Graco Combo, only to realize 2 months later that my son had outgrown it! I then had to buy a new convertible car seat, and those you can't take out and click into no stroller!!!
Both stroller were quite heavy to take out of the car etc.
My absolute favorite though among all strollers was....My MacLauren, one of the cheaper versions, forgot the model name, but I paid about 100 for it.
So my advice is to start out with a Snap And Go w/ a baby car seat...then upgrade to a convertible car seat and a great light weight stroller.
Good Luck and have fun trying them out!

Congratulations! I agree about the snap and go (they're like 50 or 60 dollars) but I also wanted to recommend the Baby Bargains Book. It's a great resource for comparing brands on everything you'll need for baby- and it also tells you want you will and won't need. Have fun!

The MacLaren Techno--it's lightweight, handles like a charm, and folds easily. (Plus, it's not prohibitively expensive.)

I have the Graco Metrolite Travel System (car seat and stroller). You could see all the available patterns on their website. My hubby (engineer) tested them all and picked the Metrolite, because it's light, folds upright, the shades completely enclose baby when used with the car seat, and we're still using it for our now toddler. We also have a cheapy umbrella stroller, but we hardly use it. The Metrolite also has a nice storage space underneath. Our church has 3 engineering fathers that picked the Metrolite on their own, none influenced the other. We all love it!

Hi L.,

Try the snap and go for the first 12 months of your baby's life. Then shop for a "real stroller". The BabyTrend snap and go is very convenient. I have used it with my three girls.

Use a snap and go until your child is out of the car seat and then you can assess what you need.... I also got the Ingelisa Zippy which is really great and the Bob jog stroller.

There are different strollers for different things. I suggest the "snap and go" for the car seat. It works great and we use it the most. It is pretty light and easy to move around. All you do is grab the infant car seat and prop it on the stroller. We used in airports and it worked out well. They do have packages where the car seat and stroller come together, but I have found those types to be very bulky. If you are looking for a stroller more for going on walks there are other strollers you may want to consider. There is a book called "baby bargains" and it gives you suggestions for all kinds of baby products. You can look up the strollers in that book for comparison and best prices.

First congratulations on your pregnancy and becoming a new mommy. I am a first-time mom too and my son is now almost 4 months old.

I have the Peg Perego infant seat and the Pliko 3 Classico stroller. I absolutely love both of them. The infant seat fits easily into the stroller, but the stroller also lays flat so that you can use it with a newborn without the car seat (not all stroller do this). The Pliko 3 stroller is lightweight (about 14 pounds), but very sturdy. It manuevers easily and folds like an umbrella stroller, which makes it very compact compared to other similar strollers. It has a nice big basket on the bottom (I do grocery shopping with this stroller). An added bonus, it's very stylish looking. I highly recommend it. I got mine at USA Baby.

Good luck and best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy and birth.
