Could mean internal hemorrhoids, especially if it is on the toilet paper when wiping. The bright red color indicates the bleeding is coming from the lower portion of the GI tract. If it were dark or black in color that would mean the bleeding was taking place higher up in the G I tract. If it's a small amount if bright red blood I would think hemorrhoids.

It means that you should call your doctor.

Depending on any other symptoms (or lask thereof) it could be anything from hemorrhoids to cancer.

Well I am not a medical professional so cannot tell you what it is or if it is anything to worry about , but blood in a stool can sometimes be something as simple as heamorhoids (sp). BUT if you are really worried and this has been going on for some time then you really need to see a Doctor and get checked out.

Yeah, go see your doctor because there's a range of possibilities for this. The blood in my stool means intestinal inflammation from consuming gluten products.

is it actually in the stool? I've had it on the stool, and it's usually from hemorrhoids. If it's actually in the stool, you should see a doctor.

It meant hemroids for me. But you should probably see your dr. to make sure. There are both external and internal...I've had both. For the internal they gave me a supository I had to do for a week and it helped greatly.

Usually bright red blood is from hemorrhoids. And like others have said, on the surface of the stool. If the blood is darker (older) and within the stool, that could indicate a problem in the colon. It is always scary to see blood from anywhere!

Generally it is hemroids. Take miralax (gentle and non habit forming) and start eating more fiber, fruit and vegetables. If it continues, make an appointment with your doctor. If it is your child, make an appointment with the pediatrician and ask about dosage instructions.

If it is on the surface of the stool, it is nothing serious, if it is in the stool, go to your doctor and get checked out!

It could mean a lot of things, but most likely anal fissure. If you strain when you have a bowel movement, that can also cause it. Keep watch and go to the dr. if it lasts more than 3 days.

I would suggest calling your doctors office because blood in the stool could be serious. If you had a painful bowel movement it could be from fissures which are splits in the skin. Hemorrhoids also could be a cause, but you should get it checked out to be safe or at least speak to your doctors nurse.

It could also be polyps in your colon. I have had a colonoscopy 3 times to have polyps removed. Since the last one I have had no more problems. I won't say it was bright red but I could tell it was blood none the less. Don't be alarmed just make a visit to your doctor. Mine have all come back benign. I just have to get a routine colonoscopy every 3 years instead of the normal 5.
