Stomach Flu Day 4 and No End in Sight (Tmi)

I woke up on Wednesday feeling terrible. I threw up all day long and had some issues from behind. Thursday I just had some really bad diareah (about every 15 minutes). I stayed in bed all day and night on those days. My husband was off work on those days. Friday my husband had to go back to work and I was feeling a little better but still had a stomach ache and was very weak. I was finally able to eat a little too. Today I'm feeling worse again. STILL having major diareah (every 30 minutes), very weak and tired and my stomach is hurting really bad. How much longer is this going to last? I know it's going around because I got an e mail from the school district telling everyone it was going around, but most people I know that have had it, didn't have it this long. I've been taking probiotics and drinking gatorade and eating saltines, so I'm not dehydrated, but I'm just feeling so awful! I hate that it's the weekend and the dr's are closed too. I don't want to go to the ER because our co pay is $100 for the visit and we were just there with my daughter last week with pneumona. So, any advice? When will this be over? Oh, I've double the probiotics and had some yogurt today, but seems like nothing is helping. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Last month a weird stomach bug went around where I live. It lasted about a week, the sufferer would seem better after 48 hours, then have a good day then get sick again.

You need to drink a bottle of Pepto-it will surround the organism and carry it out of the body-try to do this in a two hour period-and feel better!

Maybe you got a secondary colon irritation, inflammation, or infection. It sounds like you're doing all the right things to get better. Does your doctor's office or insurance have a phone-a-nurse line for advice?
The probiotics are supposed to help if it's an imbalance of bacteria, but won't help with the original virus, neither will antobiotics.. If you do end up going to the doctor, they can do lab work to see if it's turned into an infection, and if there's a treatment for it. If it's just inflammation or irritation, then sticking with the mild foods like crackers, toast, rice, bananas, and powerade is good. Bananas especially or a small dose of Imodium can slow things down for awhile.

I had it for about a week. It goes up and down. Keep hydrated, that is the most important. I would eat something that has some fiber to it. Whole wheat pastas, breads, crackers, etc. Try some broth as well.

If you contacted the nurse, she might be able to help you find something to take to minimize the diarrhea. Not sure if probiotics or taking too much is helping.

Do you want me to bring down some chicken noodle soup?!!!

I'm sooo sorry you are still sick!!! Nicky had this. He had it for about 24 hours - then good - then not the best - this was Tuesday, Wednesday and I had to pick him up early from school on Thursday - now? He's GREAT!! (yay!!)

Broth might help. If you want me to bring something down - I will. You have my number. Text me.
