Help! I need suggestions on how to combat foot odor. Also is there a way to de-odorize smelly shoes. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Okay, my teen daughter had this and the Dr. said soak them in a bucket of tea. Yep, tea. It really works. You have to soak them once a week and then after the first month, go to once a month , unless you smell it coming back. Now for the shoes... We just got all new shoes. She had a ton. Must of them can't be washed. Good luck.

My son has this problem and I have him put dryer sheets (bounce) in his sneakers. It works. You should do it from the start. But helps after wards. And spraying them with febreeze works too.

I saw a podiatrist on a tv talk show once (sorry--don't recall who/which one) who said you can spray deodorant (like you use under arms) on your feet and it will work. I have not tried it but it makes sense.

And of course use breathable shoes/socks and change them daily; more often if it helps.

I also like febreze.

My mom always put baby powder or baking soda in our shoes to get rid of odors. The baby powder especially worked if they were dress shoes worn without socks or pantyhose, because it would keep your feet from sweating.
Now I still use the baking soda, but sometimes I use a spray I mixed with water and my favorite oil from Bath and Body works.

Put some charcoal in a sock and place in the shoes. It will absorb the odor.

I would put baby power in the shoes, I would make sure the shoes are the right sizes and make of lather not plastic this way your feet will breath better doing the day. Also make sure your feet are wash each day and go bare feet if possible. massage your feet with a nice lotion each day.

There is also a product called "sneaker balls". They are balls that smell like bubble gum (I think there might be other scents available) that supposedly help to absorb the stink from shoes. I had to buy some for my daughter who insists she cannot wear socks with her Sperrys. It just wouldn't be cool!

Tea. Any kind of tea at all.

Also, switch shoes (and maybe socks) in the middle of the day. Keep a pair or two extra at work for this purpose.

Don't wear the same pair day after day. Give 'em a chance to air out. This also lengthens the life of them.

Put deodorant on your feet.

My daughter's sneakers would reek after she had worn them all day - I misted the insides with white vinegar when she took them off at night - they were dry by morning, and it killed the stink.

Grab old socks and fill with baking soda. Tie or sew it shut. Place this in your shoe every night to combat the sweaty stinky shoe odors. Try soaking your feet in warm water with epson salt in it.

the person with the stinky feet should be eating an apple a day. it works! i had to do it with my son many yrs ago. boy did his feet stink! keep an eye on what the person is eating and how well their body is cleansing/eliminating and how regularly. Use a talc made for feet, put it in the shoes daily without fail. Of course, first wash the shoes, if washable, then begin using the talc daily. It doesn't have to be expensive talc to work. For starters you might want to use the one made for people with foot issues. I don't recall the name but it is in a grey colore container with orange writing.

good luck and eat lots of apples!

Sprinkle Dr. Shoal's Foot Powder in the shoes. Wear leather shoes, not synthetic. Wear cotton sox, not synthetic. Wash feel daily with anti-bacterial soap and dry them well. Those measures even helped my teenage son's stinky feet and shoes that were so bad that just about everybody in the room wanted to evacuate!
