Has anyone ever started Progestrone in early pregnancy? Did you have any side effects from it? My OB just gave me a script for Prometrium and I'm afraid of possible side effects.

I took it for two pregnancies to prevent miscarriage from conception to about 15 weeks. They increased my nausea and made me extremely constipated. Wow... Am I the only one this happened to? Beautiful baby boys , though, both times so well worth it!

I had the suppositories with my first pregnancy and had no side effects. My doctor advised me to do it at night, just prior to going to bed. Congrats!!

I used Prometruim during both my pregnancies with absolutley no side effects. I tried the suppositories, but I was extremely sensitive to them so I had to take the pill.

Good luck and congrats!

I would google side effects first. Why did he prescribe that are you at high risk of miscarriage? Progesterone helps our body have a healthy and sustain a pregnancy, that is the function it has on our bodies. I am totally into natural products and meds when possible if it were me I would ask if using a natural progesterone is an option well actually how much progesterone you need. I am an Arbonne consultant and my District Manager calls me the progesterone cream since I started using Arbonne's balancing cream to prevent and stop my migraine headaches. Before I started using it I read everything I could about it so they think I know everything which of course I don't. My RVP has helped so many women become pregnant and sustain a full term pregnancy and have a happy healthy babies with our Natural Balancing Cream.

Good Luck hope this helps a little.

Just to be clear I wasn't saying she should use Arbonne Progesterone cream just letting her know that it has helped many women. I am not a Dr. don't claim to be and would never tell someone to use something without checking first and doing their own research.

The only way my sister could carry to term was by taking progesterone. She did not report any side effects. She had FIVE miscarriages before they started her on progesterone.

Please don't take ANYTHING other then what your Dr. prescribes. Arbonne, is not a medical company and they are NOT qualified for pregnant woman. They don't do medical research into how their products benefit or harm pregnancy.

I had progesterone suppositories on my 3rd pregnancy. I miscarried my 1st two. So we decided to try the progesterone. It has no side effects & does not hurt you or baby to try. I have my little girl who is 18 months old now.
Good luck!

I had two early misscarriages and then had a successful pregnancy when I was prescribed a progesterone suppository. When I got pregnant several years later, my obgyn had moved and I saw a new doctor that didn't prescribe me anything despite me telling him my history, I had another early misscarriage. I saw another obgyn who prescribed Prometrium when I got pregnant again and had a second successful pregnancy. With the next, I wasn't taking enough because it turned out it was twins and I had another early misscarriage. Then my dosage was upped and I had a third successful pregnancy. Six years later we decided to try again and I am now 12 weeks after taking Prometrium again. It would make me sleepy and sometimes dizzy, so I took it before bedtime. Otherwise, no side effects for me or babies. Hugs and congrats!

I had to start using progesterone suppositories at 16 weeks. I had no problems with them except it irritated my lady parts sometimes lol.

If your doc is giving it to you in early pregnancy then she/he feels you need it to help maintain the pregnancy as your progesterone levels may not be high enough. Progesterone is used often in early pregnancy.

With all due respect to JB, it says right on Arbonne's site that it is not intended for pregnant or lactating women.

My endocrinologist put me on the suppositories after we got pregnant with our first. He helped us get pregnant after 7 years of trying (6 mths after our first apptmt with him) so I did whatever he told me. No side effects. We got pregnant on our own the next time and my OB didn't think I needed it. I miscarried. We went back to the endo. and he told me it was very likely that the progesterone would have kept me from miscarrying. He helped us get pregnant the third time, put me on prog., and we were blessed with our twins.

I used it both times. Mine were suppositories and I had no side effects. I did take Prometruim and it made me tired so I took it at night.

I had the suppositories for 9 weeks. My breasts were extremely tender but I wasn't positive that was from the hormones or from just being pregnant.

I used the suppositories too early on. I had two previous miscarriages and, although some do believe it helps, and some don't...I delivered that O.! :)
No side effects.

I took the same progesterone supplement in my last pregnancy. I started using it around 8 weeks & continued thru my first trimester. I didn't have any problems with it at all.
