My 6 yo daughter needs to see an eye doctor according to her school. I'm not sure I'm comfortable taking her to Lenscrafters (where I go for my eyes). Does anyone have any suggestions for an eye doctor on the southwest side? I'm in Beverly, but willing to travel to southwest suburb area for a good doctor.

What can I do next?

Absolute Vision Care on 127th Street in Crestwood. They specialize in children. Ask for Dr. Peterson. You might have to wait a bit for an appointment but he is the best. They also have someone you works with children to excerise their eyes. They also have an office in Mokena on Wolf Road.

Hope this helps

Why would you have a problem with LensCrafters? The issue is, do they have a licensed ophthalmologist there? That's what you need. The name of the place shouldn't matter. I have had as good service at a chain place (Pearle) as with a sole practitioner. Go in and talk to the doctor for a moment and get a feel for what he/she is like, then decide whether to make an appointment.

We were recommended to take our daughter to an optometrist after an eye exam at school when she was in kindergarten. I stay in Beverly and we currently take her to the Vision Salon at 13046 S. Western Ave. in Blue Island (visionsalon.com).

Might be too far away for you, but we saw Dr. Kipp for my 1-year-old for her eye surgery, and we also have to take my 5-year-old there to meet the new kindergarten vision test requirement. He's a pediatric optometrist, and he's wonderful.

My daughters have seen Dr. Blake @ 1903 W. 103rd street. She did a fine job helping them feel comfortable with the exams.
