Spring break--San Antonio, TX or Puerto Rico

My boys, ages 12 and 15, would like to go somewhere warm for our spring break, which is the last week in March (almost anywhere is warmer than here.) I've always wanted to go to San Antonio and I think they would enjoy the Riverwalk, the Alamo, Six Flags and Sea World (the latter two we've done before in other locations). What do you think? Is this a good spring break location? Is it warm enough? My other thought was possibly Puerto Rico. We've been to southern CA several times and FL once. They've been to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico twice. We've been to St. Thomas and Tortolla, although they were much younger and may only remember a little. We are not going as far as Hawaii or spending that much money, although we were there three years ago and loved it. They rejected northern CA as "not warm enough." So, am I on the right track with San Antonio or are there other suggestions? My older son and husband have always talked about doing a baseball spring training trip to FL, but I don't think my other son would appreciate that as much. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We are going to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. Long story how we arrived at that, but our boys love waterparks and our youngest is really fascinated by marine biology. I'm very excited about this destination, although it is more than my husband initially intended to spend on spring break. Our oldest is a 9th grader and due to possible high school obligations in the future it may be our last spring break together as a foursome. Feel free to send me tips on Atlantis--including how to eat less expensively (we did not purchase the exorbitantly priced meal plans).

I live in san antonio and have visited puerto rico and I love my city but puerto rico is so much better for vacation . The weather is warm and there are iguanas roaming and beautiful scenery.

For guaranteed warm weather I wouldn't recommend San Antonio in March. Texas in the spring is unpredictable and we don't get truly warm weather until mid to late April. If you go to San Antonio, though, don't forget the missions if that interests your family. There are six including the famous Alamo. I know for a fact the other five missions are free to roam at your leisure. In general in my opinion I think San Antonio is family friendly but at night it can get a bit rough on the River Walk with the homeless and the bars/clubs. Also there are some fairly rough parts of town so be mindful of where you might be driving after dark.

San Antonio during March is usually days in the 70's and nights in the 50's. As I live here, I would totally choose Puerto Rico, but there is TONS of stuff to do here if you choose to head this way!

I have to agree about the weather - last week of March could go either way. Generally by late March the temps are warm, but you just never know. I have to disagree with the River Walk not being family/kid friendly. We've gone there on a regular basis w/ our son since he was very young. Even at night it's not exactly "wild and crazy". I think SA would make for a very family friendly vacation, but Puerto Rico would be a better bet if you are seeking guaranteed warm weather. (and I can't offer much more than that, because I've never been to PR!)

I've lived in San Antonio - it's nice but I don't know that it will be warm. And, Riverwalk is very touristy and not really kid friendly -- more margarita friendly. SEa World, etc. is not much differnt than Orlando. What do your sons like to do? Do they like music? guitars? water/surfing, etc. ? Send me a private e-mail if you like...I lived in FL and San Antonio and Cali.

I did Spring Break in San Antonio. I would suggest it probally won't be warm enough for you to do the rides, etc.. If you do go, I suggest staying near Sea World and Six Flags. We love the Hyatt and Hilton Hill country.
