Is this an Oh no, call the OB ASAP moment? Or more along the lines of just one of those things, some people get it, etc.?

At this rate, I'm like, menopause, whoo hoo. Only 9 more years (give or take) to go.

What can I do next?

I think it's normal, it's happened to me a few times.

If you are on birth control pills, this is something to check with your doctor about right away, because break-through bleeding means your pill is not a high enough dose to stop ovulation (which means it's not working!) If you aren't on the pill, the previous responders have shared some useful experiences. I've not experienced that.

Many people bleed around ovulation (just spotting), but if this is something new, it could be a sign of uterine fibroids or other growths (usually benign) in the uterus.

I had this in my 30's and I did have a small fibroid and a polyp and some mild endometriosis. I had a minor procedure through a laparoscope to remove the endometriosis and a hystroscopy to remove the fibroid and polyp.

I don't think it's an urgent matter, but definitely something to check out. In the worst case scenario, it could be related to a uterine cancer, but I would rule out other causes with your OB GYN doctor. They can probably do an ultrasound right in their office.

I always spot at ovulation but this has been consistently normal for me. You may want to put a call into the GYN nurse, just to make sure.
