Splinter in Bottom of Foot - Orlando,FL

My 5 year old son has 2 splinters in the bottom of his foot. They are completely covered by the skin but he says they hurt. I tried delicately picking at them with a needle and didn't get anywhere. My husband tried to squeeze them out. I know from personal experience how much that hurts. Are there any pain free ways to get these splinters out?

What can I do next?

Try soaking it, get the skin opened a bit with a needle, then apply duct tape and remove quickly....it worked for us!

YES! I think every mama should have this in their medicine cabinet.

The cure is Prid Drawing Salve. You just put some on and cover it. It will help to draw out the splinters. It also works to heal small cuts, blisters, bolis, etc., without pain. It's AMAZING.

let him take a nice long warm bath. After the skin is nice and soft then try to pull it out.

Sometimes soaking it in hydrogen proxide will help also to bring it out.

I have heard of drawing salve; however, I've tried something different.

Last time I did a hidden-splinter intervention on myself I couldn't see the nasty thing - well, I'm not flexible enough to see the bottom of my foot - but I could feel what it was doing, and no one else was home to help. So I washed the area and patted it dry, and then made a paste of a teaspoon of baking soda and a tad of water, with a drop of peroxide. I didn't know if the peroxide would be essential, but it sounded like a good idea. I put that mix on a gauze bandage and taped it securely to the bottom of my foot. I used that as an excuse for sitting around with my feet up that evening, and after a few hours the splinter was out.

Since then, I've read that this is the method you try last. Not that it's dangerous, but it makes the skin swell up a bit so that trying other methods would be more difficult after it.

soak it in Epsom salt a couple times a day for a few days. It will work its way out to where you can get it, and help prevent infection.
Good luck
