How much money do you and DH spend on an average work day? Does one of you stay home and the other work outside the home, or both working?

Do you ever go an entire day without spending any money?

Our typical day we spend about $10-$15 total all day (coffee in am for me *my bad habit* and then lunch in cafeteria for both of us - lunches are cheap). We never eat out during the week (unless we have a late kid game and are really pressed for time).

What does your typical spending day look like? (this doesn't include auto pays for mortgages and things, just "frivolous" not required spending, I guess you could say).

What can I do next?

I bring my lunch to work, and my coffee from home in a travel mug; I generally don't carry cash so I avoid unexpected little purchases. My husband stays home with the kids. On a normal day, he wouldn't spend any money either. Our purchases are quite predictable: grocery, Home Depot, etc. Although we bought some concert tickets online last night, so that was an unexpected expense!!:) We're not people to pick up a pack of gum in the check-out line, or grab a soda at 7-Eleven. To us, that's just p**sing money away. We usually eat out on Friday night, plus maybe go out to lunch on Saturday or Sunday.

I make my husband's lunch everyday and he doesn't like Starbucks...he takes the bus and metro in to work each day and has a pre-paid card....

I don't spend unless I have to....I spent $112 on groceries....but that's not frivolous spending is it?

There have been times when I will take the boys to McDonalds or Wendy's for frosty's or ice cream cones.....however, since as of today hubby doesn't have a job...I'll be pounding out my ebay listings and saving every penny I can!!! I really don't like dipping into our savings account!! URGH!!!

we really don't spend all that much. We have a lot of days where we don't buy anything at all. My husband packs his lunch for work and I stay home. Once a week maybe I will take the kids to lunch or we will all go out for dinner.

My hubby and I take our lunchs and drinks. We only spend money during the week on Gas. We go grocery shopping once a week and have a $75 (4 people), I make my menu around sale items. We might eat out once on a weekend but never more that $25. We dont drink coffee out ever.

My hubby works and I stay home (for a couple more years, then I will look for a half time job). A typical day I make breakfast, lunch and dinner and we do not eat out. My hubby is supposed to take in leftovers or eat from his lunch foods he keeps in his office. But he often forgets and eats in the cafeteria where he works. I take the kids out to do something each day...but it is something free like our local museum kids program or our library music time or our environmental center kid's program. So, on a typical day we either spend zero or whatever my husband spends on lunch. A non typical day might mean I put gas in the car or buy a birthday gift of something one of the kids needs...or on a weekend day we might run errands and eat lunch out. Then we are spending more.

I can go several days without spending money. Then, I can go many days spending money. It all depends.
During the school year, I bring my lunch, every day. It not only helped my wallet, it helped my waistline.
I also buy Starbucks coffee & make a pot @ home each morning & then fill up the to-go mug for the ride to work.

We both work full time. I get one coffee every morning, MUST have it. He'll get 2 or 3, being on a 24 at the firehouse he needs the 'pick me ups'. He's really good about bring stuff to eat there OR all the guys will chip in (which isn't much) and make a big delicious meal for themselves !! Hubs has become a really good cook ~ When he feels like it ! LOL
i guess ours is about the same between the both of us 10 -15 a day.
we've cut out other things ....Coffee is the One thing I refuse to get rid of ;-)

We can go days without spending any money. I'm a housewife and my husband works.

We have very little frivolous spending. I pack my husband's lunch every day so he doesn't buy that. I send a cup of iced tea with him and he refills it with water from the cooler at work so he doesn't have to buy drinks. We rarely eat out.

Thinking about it right now, we haven't spent money on anything frivolous in 6 days.

We work from our home and we eat lunch out almost daily.... appx $20

I am at Market Street, my grocer, almost daily for fresh fruits and veggies....minimum $30 I don't walk out of the store less than $30 spent. I am bad to plan my meal and then go buy everything for it that day.

We end up eating dinner out sometimes as well.... , especially on weekends....$40+

Today we are getting brakes/pads/the works, installed on daughter's car plus her yearly car care..... $2000 We expected this to be about $500, the new brakes were a surprise!

During the week, I usually spend nothing (I work full time outside the home), however, about every other week, hubby comes to my work and takes me out to lunch for about $20. About once a month, I may eat out. On a Saturday it can range from 0 to $30. depending on what the plans are.

I don't know about hubby, but I know it's not that much, less than $20 a week.

Then there's are frivilous family day, Sunday, ... whatever the day my bring??

I stay at home/work from home and my husband works out of the house. He makes his coffee at home and brings a few cups with him in a large travel mug; he also takes his lunch 90% of the time - the other 10% he eats in the cafeteria at work and that comes from his allowance if he got some that pay period.

I may buy my son a treat or something at the pool ($.50 or $.75 for ice cream) during the week. When I have our car, I might take my son to lunch once a month. When my husband has our car, I don't spend much during the day b/c we either stay home or can only purchase what we want to carry home.

We pay cash for everything and that really helps cut down on any frivolous spending. My biggest splurge may be at the farmer's market every other week but that still comes out of our set grocery budget; just less for the store later.

Some days I take my lunch and sometimes I go out. (spend $6-10). Same with husband. He usually stops for coffee in the a.m., I always take my tea from home. (But I work PT.) Soda/snack from office maybe $2 per day.....the days I am home I am more likely to spend $$ on lunch for myself, son, guest, pool fees and snacks there....
