Spider Veins

I don't have bulging veins but do have the spider veins. Some look as if they could start to bulge - they're just below the surface of the skin ( i hope that made sense). I brought it up to my OBGYN in hopes he'd recommend a doctor or clinic. He wasn't concerned at all (there goes the idea of insurance covering any procedure). Please, help. I'd appreciate any advise on the subject.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all of you for your advise. I will take them into consideration and decide what to do. Luckily they're not too much of a problem, but I suppose I should take care of it while it's minor, huh?

M.,
I, too, had major vein problems.. I had them before children, and they got worse and worse with every pregnancy. I finally got them "fixed" last year. I went to a dermotologist. It was 3 visits to have the procedures done. It's injections into the veins (he will close some.... apparently, we have plenty).... I won't lie, it wasn't pain-free... .it hurt...(but, I'm a baby). but, I'm thrilled with results. I hadn't worn shorts for many years, and didn't like wearing a bathing suit or short skirts before. Now, I do, and it's great!! definitely worth it! And, if they do hurt - you can get covered by insurance.!! good luck. let me know if you want my doc's name... he's in Westchester, but has an office in Elgin and Palos Hills, too.
Good luck!

I JUST had vein surgery on my legs in October. I had spider veins, vericose on my right calf and kinks in the veins that you couldn't even see on the surface. My surgery consisted of lasers, cutting and sclerotherapy which are the injections to damage the little spider veins which your body will absorb. I went in thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, b/c many places claim they fix the problem without surgery..but I had to have 2 separate 4 hour surgeries. They weren't bad at all, but you're awake the whole time. Hopefully, you would just need injections for spider veins. I went to a place called Vein Care Centers and worked with Dr. Haddaddin.

M.,

I just saw your post and I have something that has worked for me. I use this supplement that is 100% natural for my spider veins and it has been working. It takes more time than surgery to see results but I have noticed that they are not nearly as dark or noticable and I know by summer they will be completely gone. If you would like to try it or get more information email me at ____@____.com.

Maybe you could talk to a different doctor; maybe your primary doctor and see what they have to say. Get another opinion from someone else. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you; it's what I would do if I thought it might be a problem.

I just got my first spider vein spot on the front of my shin. I'm pregnant with my 3rd and usually get varicose veins (that do not all go away when my pregnancy is over). I talked to my dr about both spider and varicose veins. She talked about injections (that they do at my OBGYN office) that are considered cosmetic and not covered by insurance. However, since my varicose veins hurt, she said I'd have to see a surgeon b/c they'd probabaly completely remove those (and insurance would cover this). I just hope they'll do something if I'm breastfeeding since I'll have met all deductibles this year.
The injections sound much better!
