Spider & Varicose Veins During Pregnancy

Hi.
I'm pregnant with my third child and had very bad spider & varicose veins during my last two pregnancies (actually got worse on the second one). I'm only 7 weeks along on this pregnancy but wanted to know if anyone have any advice on things to help me through this pregnancy (especially since I'm due in October which means wearing compression tights through the summer will be difficult). I have read about horse chestnut helping, but there does not seem to be any research on whether it's safe during pregnancy. Has anyone used it? If so, did you take the capsules or use the cream? Any other helpful advice to reduce the pain over the next few months would be hugely appreciated.

What can I do next?

you can try to put your feet up for a while...I sleep like this every night.I also wear compression tights. go also for walks..if you have time. and before taking anything better to ask a doctor..considering you are pregnant. don't stand and sit for too long. don't wear tight fitting clothes.good luck !!!!

Hi, I read about horse chestnut too. It is very popular in Poland, where I come from. However, my pharmacist in Poland said she would recommend the cream rather than pills because ther is no research on the safty of this medicine for the fetus. As far as comfort goes, try to put your feet up as often as possible (which I know won't be easy with two boys)and wear comfortable shoes. I used to like soaking my feet in cold water and then rubbing one of those cooling gels on my feet snd legs.
And please, look out for any signs of a blood clotand if the pain is very strong or your leg gets hot and red call your doctor right away. Better safe than sorry.

A.,
Sorry I can not help. I do however have a question for you. I am due next week, in great discomfort from spider & varicose veins also and was wondering if they went away after you gave birth. If so, how soon. This has really been concerning me. Thanks.

Arbonne has a supplement that I have heard works wonders on spider and varicose veins but being you are pregnant, the rule of thumb is to take the ingredient list to your doctor to make sure it is ok to take. If you would like to get the list sent to you, please email me at ____@____.com and I'd be happy to send it your way.

Good luck with your baby! I just had my third boy 6 months ago. I see you have two boys yourself now. Drop me a line when you find out what you are having! :)

Hugs,
L.

Three things will help - Get surgical support stockings, thigh high if you can tolerate them, and wear them a lot - as much as you can. Go to your maternity store and get a maternity belt - this will help with blood flow to and from your legs and it will help your back tremendously.

After the baby is born - get an abdominal binder and wear it most of the time for the first 3 to 6 weeks.

Also, you can look into homeopathics for recovery from varicose veins after the baby is born - and some to help while you are now pregnant. Search for a certified homeopath online. Many of them are French.

i had the same issue and the best i could suggest (not being a dr) is to wear the compression stockings and keep your legs elevated as much as possible.
i ended up with my feet on my bed head board for 3 months with my 4th child. afterwards, it stayed and is particularly bad when i am PMSing.
a vascular surgeon can take care of them when you are done having children. don't do it until you are done or they will come right back and you will have to do the procedure again.
