It will be our little girls 1st Birthday soon, and I was wondering if any of you moms have suggestions on where to go to get an Elmo Cake made? Anywhere within 15 miles of Fairfax VA? I only know of Amphora Bakery in Herndon or Vienna.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the input. We ended up going with a Wegmans Sesame Street cake, it has big bird and an Elmo toy on it and it's really cute, we are also getting a small round wegmans cake for our little one so she can mush her fingers in that one. :)

Hi J.,
I could not find an Elmo cake for my daughter's second birthday which was this past January. (I couldn't believe it was so hard to find an Elmo cake. Don't all kids love Elmo? :)) Anyway, I settled on the Sesame Street cake that Giant makes. It had Elmo and Big Bird in little cars driving across a road. To my surprise, it ended up being a gorgeous cake. It was bright, festive, tasty, and even though he was sharing the spotlight with Big Bird, Elmo was on the cake. I had them do the writing in red to make it tie in better with her Elmo theme. It really was a hit. I ordered it from the Giant in Falls Church/Arlington (on Rt. 50) and they were very helpful and made a beautiful cake. Good luck finding something!

I found an Elmo cake last minute last year at the giant in Annandale (off 236 by the post office and Kmart). It was a small (6 or 8 inches) round elmo head with big eyes that was perfect for my son to dig into as his personal cake - you could do as others suggested and get another sesame street cake for others to go along with it - it was a very cute and simple cake.

Might you consider an ice cream cake? If so, any Baskin Robbins will at least have the ELMO theme for a cake. I've had many ice cream cakes made for my son in the past and it was always a homerun for the 2-9 year old crowd! The little ones always enjoy ice cream. You won't end up wasting any bit of it...I promise you!! I recommend the BR in Herndon off of Elden street.

Good Luck!!

Try Wegman's. The cakes are very yummy and they can do almost anything you want. Our favorites are the cakes with whipped cream frosting. They need to be refrigerated until the party, but they taste wonderful!

If you don't want to spend a fortune, go to Shoppers Food Warehouse in Chantilly, Centreville, or Herndon (not sure of other locals). They make a beaufitul Elmo "cupcake" cake. A friend got one for her daughters 2nd birthday it was perfect, no cake cutting, each kiddo got their "own" cake. I loved it!

Also - before that party, I got the sesame street cake from Giant as a previous poster said as well. It was absolutely delicious! It had a couple characters on it, but went very nicely with my Elmo themed 2nd bday party. :)

Good luck! Have fun!
