Good Afternoon!
I am in need of help please. I need a dress for my niece's quinceañera in three weeks. Ive been to David's Bridal, Alfred Angelo, Whachamacallit, Terry Costa, DIllards, Sears, Jc Penny's, Macy's, L'Patricia and all stores inside the Stonebriar Mall and Grapevine Mills.
Any other suggestions please? I am starting to panic. Thank you all for any help you can provide me.

What can I do next?

That's a lot of stores! What's the problem? Nothing you like, nothing fits?
Often with fancy dresses off the rack you need alterations. If you find something you like that's a little too big or long you can have it altered relatively cheaply. I had to do this with my daughter's prom dress as she is short and everything she tried was too long. Good luck!

I'm with Mallory.

We could send you to better places if we knew what the problem is.

Ex) Im 6'1. I order 95% of my clothes from the UK. Totally different needs than my sis who is average height but Reubanesque, and totally different than my pal who is thin and petite with gozanga boobies, and totally different than my Muslim or LDS friends that have modesty requirements, and totally different than....

... Picking up what Im laying down?

We all have body flaws OR perfect bodies that DONT suit whatever they current fad/trend is.

Spill it sister.

Flabby arms? No tush? Can't have bare shoulders, poochy belly, cankles, surgery scars? Can't wear certain colors? Need an a-line? Can't wear an a-line? Budget? Fear of satin? Whazzup?

you have to give us something to work with....first of all: How tall are you, how old and what kind of shape are you in. What are your best features? ARe you looking for long or short, dressy or casual, (cocktail or blacktie?) Do you like it to be snazzy or are you more understated? Do you like to show a bit of skin or be more covered up? You answer these and we can put up some suggestions/links perhaps.
But honestly-if you haven't looked online you haven't looked. I would never expect to find an important dress at a brick &mortar. Have you looked at Nordstroms online yet? I would trust them the most. Find some styles you like and order them-return what you don't like. You can even go in and find an SA to help you. They are more than happy to do this kind of thing. And they have prices that are right in line with Macys so don't think its going to be crazy expensive.

Wow...and you haven't found anything? Then you must be picky like me..LOL. Try Annie Sez. I found a fabulous formal dress there for a sweet 16 for 80 bucks! Try Dress Barn if you have them in TX, not sure.

Not exactly sure what kind of dress you are looking for..but just this morning a friend of mine was also looking for a dress to wear to a big wedding in her family..these are the ones she asked me to look at & give her some feedback. Macys.com and in the search enter these numbers to see the 3 she is considering...775213 or 476227 or 531736. Hope this helps.

Why not try online shopping as well? I was actually able to get my wedding dress online at a less expensive price than in store and I was still able to use the store the alterations. If you're in a panic it can't hurt to look.

I think your level of panic would justify shopping on-line, ordering several (or many!) dresses in several sizes, and returning what doesn't work. This is how my mom used to shop for us girls and other than having a balance on her credit card for a couple weeks, she wasn't out any money.

Also, it might be worth looking through your local Craigslist and consignment shops. You never know what you will find.

One last idea - many schools around me are having prom dress re-sales right now. You can find everything from formal to party dresses at these sales. Might just be a few events in your area right as well.

Good luck!

I just found two BEAUTIFUL dresses for my daughter at Costco (yes, that's right). They were $17 each and of high quality and beautiful. Not sure about your area, but I snatched them up quick for Easter and a baptism.

Wow. Is there more to the story?

I'm in the DFW area and there are great shops and give hit some great places.

Personally, my go to place is Neimans. Nordstroms is great as well.

We bought a beautiful Sherry Hill dress for daughters prom at Terry Costa.

Maybe we could be more help if we knew what you are looking for and why you're having such a tough time with finding the dress!

Try Stardust Celebrations and Lulu's Bridal Boutique. Owned by the same people. Stardust is in Plano. (They are expensive!) Lulu's is in Dallas.

What kind of a dress are you looking for? Something you'd wear if you were IN a wedding or just attending one?

One of my new favorite places online is ModCloth. You might also look at Ann Taylor: http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/catalog/superCategory.jsp?ca...

The last several times I've had to go to an event where I need a dressier dress I went to Marshall's and had success. These were cocktail dresses I bought... not long gowns but the one at Forest and Marsh has a great selection.
