Spanx- Have You Worn Them?

I had my son 9 weeks ago and have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks- things are not in place where they need to be and I have pouches where there weren't pouches before, but I want to look nice. I however hate nylons and don't want to be uncomfortable. Have any of you used spanx before? what was your experience? love or hate?

are they sold in stores? or do I just have to get them online?

What can I do next?

I loved my spanx for years!, its not to make someone look skinnier but to smooth out transitional "extra baggage" they are the perfect remedy.

warning: don't go for the cheap imitations unless you want to look like a broken sausage casing.

Love -- but here is my daily garb (12 weeks after having my son): "Thinning" camisole (Walmart lingerie section $15). + Post partum support band (as tight as I can get it) Motherhood Maternity $28 + another cotton tank over that to smooth out the look, then whatever I plan on wearing that day. Haha. When people comment how great I look I say "there is heavy machinery under all of this"

Ah! God bless the woman that was smart enough to cut the feet off of her control top pantyhose!

Hey--Target sells Assets which are a lot like Spanx (they're made by Spanx) but cheaper.

Oh girl, they are awesome! I did use them for the first time right after my first was born but I still use them. They do make you look skinnier b/c everything is held in place so well. There are so many varities too, they have ones that are full on tights they also have panies, camisole types, tummy ones, etc. They are expensive, but don't go for the knock-offs.

Love mine! I got a body shaper that hooked to my bra (so it didn't roll down like others have) and went to about mid-thigh. I can't remember whether or not I also wore panty hose with the shaper but if I did, I had no issues wearing them together. I looked smooth, tucked in and shapely from head-to-toe.

Oh and as someone mentioned below, don't cheap out and go for a generic. Pay for real Spanx or nothing. Other shapers that I have worn in the past created problems like uni-boob (like you breasts are one big blob), fat spilling over the top (especially in the back), pinching and binding in weird and uncomfortable spots, a giant mid-thigh bulge where the shaper elastic squeezes the thigh, panty lines from hell (when wearing a "shaping brief") and my favorite, the ones that roll down from the top or roll up from the bottom. Real Spanx stay in place!

I love all the construction under gear we women wear. My husband finds it fascinating that I still bother with a garter and the entire girdle system that comes with it. ;-) he finds it very sexy.

As for Spanks, a definite YES AMEN AND YES.

I love Spanx for the comfort and "smoothing" effect! If you have a "pooch" or "pouch" here and there -it holds that in (without suffocating you) and smooths it all out. I highly recommend them!

They are great but go a size up from what you normally wear, otherwise they will be super tight and uncomfortable.

Worth every penny. I hear people double them up or even more support!!

They are like nylons but they really keep you in place. Also, you can get them in different lengths so you can choose your comfort level.

Dress Barn has great control wear, too!

Spanx are awesome. You can get them at nordstrom or another large department store, but not Macy's. I would go for the body shaper versus the hosiery. I have the nude thigh length high waist ones. And I have never had them roll down.

if you dont want to be comfortable then dont wear Spanx- they are the most uncomfortable thing I have ever worn- I tried to wear them under a halloween costume last year and honestly I lasted about 20 minutes and said screw it.

-edit- I meant if you want to be comfortable- just re read that sorry

Love Spanx!!!! Smooths out those mommy bumps and bulges. They have them at Target.

correction: I have Assets (not spanx) which I bought at Target. Same thing but less expensive. Thanks "One and Done" for reminding me of that.

Spanx is a life saver in my opinion. While I hate hosiery in general if you need to wear something they're good. And yes they will smooth those little trouble spots. :) Congrats on the birth of your son :)

I have spanx and I never leave home without them I absolutely LOVE them, they are super comfortable and they hide a lot of unwanted extra and no one ever knows your wearing any because they don't have any ugly uncomfortable wiring. My doctor actually recommended them to me after I had my son by c-section and I have loved them ever since. I bought mine from a dillards store, they aren't cheap though, that's the only draw back. Hope this helps :)

got the spanx tights, two pairs, both ripped the second time I wore them, did not do much to suck in my tummy - went to target and got a body shaper, works much better.

Got to a department store or someplace with a good selection and try things on. Everything is different after a baby and you will have to see what works--spanx or something else.
