Spagetti Poll, All the Recipes Has My Curiosity Peaked...

How many moms/families use parmesan? How many, if any, put pepperoncinis on their spagetti?

My hubby and others think I'm wierd because I can't have spagetti or lasagna without having pepperoncinis with it. I always use parmesan and then I'll bite off the tip of a pepperoncini and drizzle the juice on top of the spagetti. It's yummy. If you like pepperoncinis but have never tried it, then you must try it next time. =)

What can I do next?

My hubby HATES pepperoncinis, yet drizzles the juice on his pizza, with parm...so I guess it's kinda the same! You're not the only one!

LOL...

My DH's family is italian... and let me tell ya, the spaghetti I grew up with, isn't spaghetti. To quote Band of Brothers:

"This isn't spaghetti, this is noodles with catsup."

Right now, I have about 40 recipes for spaghetti... and that's not even including all of the *similar* types of noodles (angelhair, linguini) and variations of sauces, proteins, greens, veggies, pickles (like capers and peppers and many many others) and even fruits involved. Then you start adding cheeses and things go ballistic. Parmigiano reggiano, pecorino romano, goat cheeses, ricottas, the list is nearly endless. We had the chance to live in Italy awhile ago (and are going back soon)... but that was Roma (my favorite city on the planet). His family is up near the french/swiss border... so pastas start doing some reeeeeal crazy "fusion" things (but 100s of years old "fusion). My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The french and italians HATE each other, but the blend in the food is joygasmically delicious.

There is no one right way to do spaghetti... although I have come to find that there are many wrong ways :) :) :)

My family has always had Parmesan with spaghetti! Actually my family just loves cheese on anything.... haha

Not a fan of the pepperoncinis tho, but I don't like anything pepper or spicy :P Never seen anybody have them with their spaghetti either. But then again, I'd never seen anybody eat a butter and peanut butter sandwich til I met my husband! LOL

I always use parmesan on my pasta, and my kids are the same way. My husband thinks we're parmesan addicts because he perceives us as using "too much." He just doesn't like as much as we do!

Imported parmesan cheese that we grate at time of consumption. When I went to a friends house as a kid they were having spaghetti and the mom put a green can on the table and said it was parmesan. It was Craft and God awful to my Italian taste buds. LOL. Love , love pepperoncinis and funny enough I had it on spaghetti when I was preggers as that was my craving and hadn't done it before I was pregnant. YUMMMMM

I have a lunch suggestion.
I enjoy the little golden peppers with cottage cheese and pickled beets.
Put on top of a green salid with seasame seeds and crunchy chinese noodles...
A fun mix of taste, texture and color...

Hi Mama-
When it comes to spaghetti, I say to each their own. If you like pepperoncinis on it, then eat them. I remember the first time I had spaghetti with no meat in the sauce. It was a little strange. And then my first creamy spaghetti sauce. That was also strange. But not as weird as canned spaghetti sauce. However, I have grown accustomed to spaghetti being noodles with a tomato based sauce and then the rest depends on whomever is serving it. I will say I have never had a truly bad pot. It's one of those meals you can't go wrong with.
Growing up, my mother would take stewed tomatoes and then a sauce, and add fresh herbs- rosemary, sage, basil.... lots of black pepper... and then stir in some meat. We would eat more sauce than noodles after smelling it simmer for a couple of hours. It was amazing. And parmesan was on the table if we wanted it. My dad has never really liked alot of cheese, so it was an extra. I however, LOVE cheese.
The best part about food is that there are always new ways to try something and new ways to delight in the art of eating.
I say enjoy your peppers. Leave them out for kids and company and let them see you enjoying them. Kids especially should try everything once. If they don't like it, well, that's ok. But they tried it.
My family- they don't like avocados ( I love them due to my Junior High BFF's mom) but I do. They won't touch a fresh slice on their salad, on their burger, or anywhere. But I started making a really killer guacamole and suddenly there isn't any left. Then they made faces when I gave some to my nephew- he spit it out because it was a little slimy. Kids are ultra drooly, you know. BUt then, I mashed it a little and gave it back and he ended up eating a whole slice.
The point is, food is meant to be enjoyed and one person's "strange idea" is another person's gourmet meal. Eat, enjoy, and share your delights. ANd let us know if the parmesan on the peppers is good. It actually sounds pretty good to me right now!

We always have pepperoncinis with ours too! And I have to have a couple of slices of gallo salami on the side as well. I dont eat spaghetti without a side of cottage cheese on the plate either, the cold cottage cheese and the hot spaghetti go great together. You are NOT weird, haha. And yes on the pamesan too.

Forgive me but I'm not even sure what pepperonicinis are! I usually use the green can of Kraft parmesan. But just because you do and others dont, doesnt mean you're crazy. You've just got a "quirk"

I like butter/margarine and/or mayo/miracle whip on my lunch sandwiches and a friend said that was like putting ketchup on a watermelon slice, eyew, you just didn't do it! Huh? That was MY normal, but HER weird.

To each their own!! :-) What a boring world this would be if we all ate the same!
