Hi Mamas! I'm starting the Sough Beach diet today (yea!). My friend lost 120 lbs doing this so I'm gonna give it a go around. Anyways, do ya'll have any EASY chicken, pork, or beef recipies? I could join the website to get recipies but it cost $5-$10 a week! Not gonna do that. Buying fresh food is expensive enough! Also, are there any success/failure stories out there? I'd love to hear what you took from your experience on this diet. Any suggestions for me? I'm so pumped to be skinny again!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well Mama's. It's been two weeks and one day since I started the South Beach diet and I gotta say, I am ssoo glad I found this. The pants that were tight before are now loose and everyone is starting to ask if I've lost weight! After 2 weeks! Its harder than I had ever imagined to refrain from sugar and carbs. But after you get past the first few days, its gravy. My lifesaver has been sugar free Reeses and Turtles chocolate. Dont eat too many of them though cause of the alcohol sugar. You'll pay! Anyways, I hope some of you mama's out there will follow this lead. It's giving me hope again!

Hi A.,
If you are really serious about starting the South Beach Diet, my advice to you, is to invest in the South Beach Diet Book. It doesn't cost that much and it is a tremedous help with planning meals, what to eat, when to eat it and it has several very good recipes in it.
My husband and I both started the diet at the same time, last October. I lost 20 pounds in three months, by Christmas I was a very happy camper! My wieght was down, I was looking good in two(2) dress sizes smaller and better yet, I was feeling good because I had been eating right for a change.
If you exercise along with the diet, that's good. I didn't exercise at all and I still lost 20 pounds. I'm 52 years old and by the time I get home from work, I'm much too tired to jump up and down, roll around or stretch my body. I just want to rest. As I stated before, if you are active in exercising, that's good, you will defintely loose faster.
The bottom line is, make the investment in the book, keep it readily available at your fingertips and enjoy the ride to a slimmer and healthier you.

I would suggest the recipe books as well...try Half Priced Books, they have a section for cookbooks and always have south beach cookbooks--and cheap!!

Good luck!

answers from Dallas on (the Food Network site) has great recipes and you can search based on types of recipes, too.

My husband and I did the SOuth Beach diet- the frist 2 weeks are rough, so the next week you feel like you are cheating when you add things back to your diet. We both lost weight (my husband lost way more, of course) but I can't bring myself to do it again because of what you give up at first. I have a hard time when I CAN'T eat something- I want it all the more :)

The American Diabetes Assoc. is a great source for portion control and balanced diets- the best way to lose weight and keep it off.

Hope this helps,

It cost about $15 every 3 months, but it gives you a daily recipe menu on different kinds of diets. I might give it a try for just regular menu planning. My sister in law suggested it.

My mom did - well sorta did the SB thing. She just bought a 8$ book from walmart and just used the recepies from the back. She never followed the directions for any of the stages. She just made the food in the back and lost over 40lbs. Just make a start and see what happens.

A little about me: I am a SAHM of 3 girls and love it. I have been married for 11 years.
