Hi Moms! My husband and I are planning a 5 day trip late summer / early fall for my 30th birthday and we would love suggestions/preferences/tips on wine country in California. Is there a big difference between Sonoma and Napa Valley? Do you prefer one over the other? Great places to stay? Must sees? Must try restaurants? We are thinking about flying into San Fransisco and spending a night or two there, so any suggestions there also would be great! Thank you SO much!

What can I do next?

NAPA, NAPA, NAPA! Can you tell I love Napa. In fact, I have a couple of passes to a Swanson Vineyards tasting - a $55 value EACH that I can let you have super cheap because I won't be able to get out there this year. Either way, you have to go to Swanson as well as Del Dotto, and Frank Family Vineyards. Many people love the wine train, but personally I felt it was overrated. We stay at 1801 First (It's a B&B), but there are many other great little B&B's. I am super busy right now, but if you have any other questions, message me or I'll try to shoot you a note later...

E.,
There are some awesome B&Bs in Napa. I personally loved yountville-past napa along the same highway. Our absolute favorite winery is V. Sattuti Winery. They actually still have free wine tasting in the basement, a beautiful picnic area and deli where you can buy wine, cheese, bread etc.. Another great winery is Mumm winery. They make Sparling Wines that are fantasic. You could always get a limo and do a winery tour. its alot of fun. I lived not too far from Napa and really am jealous that you get to go!! If you have AAA you can get guide books for free for the area. PM me if you have any more questions!! M.

We loved Sonoma- We stayed at the Mission in Spa-- LOVED it! We stayed in San Fran a day and drove down to Sonoma-stayed a few nights at the spa and then took hway 1 up the coast back to San Fran. If you stay in Sonoma there is a great seafood place in the square. We also did biking through a winery.
