I am working on a special project and need your input. What are some songs that remind you of your children? They can be popular songs or children's songs as long as they remind you of your children.

What can I do next?

"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves reminds me of my little guy. :)
And the song that I used to sing to him when he was a newborn was Easy Like Sunday Morning. It's his song. The song I sing to my little girl when I rock her to sleep is Cant Help Falling In Love. Puts her to sleep everytime. So does this one:
Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch 'em roll away again

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time
(whistle)-although i actualy hum this part-

I'm definitely not the best singer but my babies seem pretty satisfed with my vocal (dis)abilities. :)

You Are My Sunshine, my only sunshine.
You make me happy, when skies are grey.
You'll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.

I've always loved singing this one to my kids :-)

John Lennon's "Imagine" reminds me of my children. It is the lullaby that played on their mobile in their crib. It is also a song about a vision of a peaceful world, which is what we all hope for our children to experience.

"You are my Sunshine" also as well!

A song that I plan on passing to my girls in their scrapbooks is "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts. Its about what we want for them as they grow. Here is a link to the lyrics. I would love to hear more about what you are working on.

"Baby Mine" originally from Dumbo I think, but I heard it on the movie "Beaches" and love it!! "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", ohh, and when my son was born, I always sang the Carpenters song "Close to You" (at least I think that is the title). Hmm, I am sure that more will come to me when I am not trying to think of it, if so, I will let you know! We would love to hear what you are up to..it sounds like you are off to an interesting start! ~A.~
I told you I would think of something else..what about "My girl" and "I Hope you Dance" by LeAnn Womack?? **Another update*** I asked my hubby for the name& artist of our all time favorite (which may be the one Rebecca F is talking about too) and it is quite random, but the best arrangement you will ever hear. It is a combination of "Somewhere over the rainbow" and "What a wonderful world" that is beautiful! It is by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole from the soudtrack to "Meet Joe Black". It is well worth looking up and downloading!! ~A.~

I did a whole scrapbook album with black and white pictures of my boys and wrote lyrics on the pages from songs I love. I used Your Song by Elton John, Godspeed by Radney Foster (the orginal artist...not a fan of the Dixie Chicks!lol), can't remember the name, but the song that goes, "I saw your face and that's the last I've seen of my heart", My Brother and Me, by Bruce Robison, You are My Sunshine, We Thought You'd Be Here, by Wes King, some Third Day songs and Bebo Norman songs, Why Walk When You Can Fly by Mary Chapin Carpenter, Life Uncommon by Jewel, Upside Down by Jack Johnson, anyway, there are a lot, but this is one of my very favorite albums and I cry every time I look at it!

Hi H.,

My daughter is 2.5 years old and "Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round" reminds me of her. And "Fruit Salad" by The Wiggles. She's a nut!! :-)

And for my son who is 5 months old, he loves it when I sing to him "The Ants Go Marching One By One...Hoorah, Hoorah". He smiles and giggles all the way through!

Sounds like a fun project!

TOTALLY love Israel K's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and the first page of our pregnancy scrapbook begins with the lyrics to Arms Wide Open by Creed, and the date we found out. My son's song is You're Just Too Good To Be True (I Need You Baby)----the Lauryn Hill version is the BEST! When I was pregnant, I'd sing/listen to it all the time, and it would make him dance (you could see him through my shirt, lol), and after he was born, he still smiles and dances to it.

"Starlight, Starbright" and "The Moment I Saw You" both by Nicolette Larson seemed to express my exact feelings when my first baby came along. Also, from the same album, "Sleep, Baby, Sleep" and "Welcome to the World" (okay maybe just the whole album...) I don't listen to that CD much anymore, but I think I am going to go get it right now....it brings back those warm tender memories of the first days/weeks/months of being a Mommy!

"Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" by Dixie Chicks {"The rocket racer's all tuckered out; Superman's in pajamas on the couch; Goodnight moon, will find the mouse; And I love you; Godspeed, little man; Sweet dreams, little man; Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings"}

Oh I love that song. I cry just about every time i hear it, thinking about my baby boy when he was an infant and just being amazed at how beautiful he is!

AND "Miracle" by Celine Dion. I'm not a big Celine fan, but this song brings tears to my eyes because it's about a mother's love for her baby!

I sing "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" to all of my children. My first daughter was born on the 4th of July, when Kelly Clarkson had recorded "Miss Independant"...so that one definitely makes me think of her of course. "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" is by far my favorite though. Hope that helps.
