Can anyone suggest something fun to do outdoors. Any place that is fun to do outside. My husband and I want to do something fun outside this weekend with our kids, besides going to the park in our neighborhood. TIA
K.

My 18 month old daughter absolutely loves the Arboretum. We bought a season pass for $60--definately the way to go since it will cost $5 to park plus admission ($8.50 for adults, not sure about kids, our daughter is free). The best part is that it changes with the seasons and has lots of activities going on all the time, such as Mommy & Me Mondays; the last time we went on a Monday there was a petting zoo and fun games and activities for the kids. Plenty of grassy area for the kids to run around in! Check out their website for prices, activities, and other information at www.dallasarboretum.org.

We have gone to fly kites at the Elgin B. Robertson Park, at Dalrock and Hwy 30! It was lots of fun for the kids.

Harry Myers Park, Rockwall, has a big playground with the wooden structures. In the summer the splash park is lots of fun!

The new Rockwall Harbor has a splash area. We have seen kids in the water there, but we have not tried it. There are many areas around there for good photo opportunities.

The Dinosaurs Alive! exhibit at the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney might be perfect for your boys, and enjoyable for you and your husband too. I haven't personally been, but my husband, inlaws, and 2-yr-old son went (while I was at yoga!) and loved it. I saw pictures and it looks to be good for all ages.

I second the Heard Museum and Arboretum. We go to the Arboretum and have lunch. In McKinney, we go to the Heard museum and then we like to go to Herbie's Soda Fountain on the square. (I haven't been to Herbie's in a while, not sure if they are still there) My daughter is 12 and she still enjoys going to those places.
