Aaahhhh HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Mine is the 24th. My much loved grandma was on the 21st.

I think it's great that hubby is getting you the popcorn popper if you really want it but you can make popcorn in a paper bag --- no oil --- in the micro wave. I use the paper lunch bags from Dollar Tree, put 1/4 -1/3 cup in the bag fold down the top a couple of times and cook about 1.5 - 2 minutes. If you need more you can re-use bag.

Is there something else you might like instead?

Ah HA! So it's YOUR fault we're all gonna die tomorrow!!

Personally, I like popcorn on the stove in my big ole cast iron pot with a little oil for popping and a sprinkle of salt when it's done. I don't like uni-taskers.

So if I were you, I'd ask for diamonds or a Lexus instead.

Happy Birthday!

:)

(And I'm sorry, I know, I know, "If you don't have the answer to the question, DON'T RAISE YOUR HAND!") :(

Hmmmm....would that be a microwave? Lol

My FIL, a long time lover of popcorn, will only use those silver ones with the hinged lid...I guess that goes right in the stove, right? He's on his 4th O. I think.

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday!

Yay December babies! My birthday was on the 16th.

That said, I had an air popper that I liked pretty well. Sorry, I can't remember the brand. I either use the microwave or my "popcorn pan" and make popcorn on the stove top. My air popper took up a lot of cupboard space for as much as I used it. I either gave it away or put it in a yard sale.

They are fun to have. You'll be eating lots of popcorn for a while.
You can also pop some and have the kids help you string it for the tree.

Have fun!

Not big on uni-taskers, but my MIL bought us this one: http://www.amazon.com/Wabash-Valley-Farms-25008-Whirley-P...

We don't use it often. Typically we use our cast iron pot with a bit of oil. When we have used that one, it's worked pretty well.

Good luck!

We bought this one. http://www.amazon.com/Great-Northern-Popcorn-Red-Foundati...

Popcorn machines come in different kettle sizes. 4oz, 6oz, 8oz...and the professional ones are even bigger. So it really depends upon how much popcorn you want to make at a time.

The link I posted is for an 8oz kettle. It's not a teeny machine, but it's not a big one either. It also has great reviews and is very sturdy.

Check out the Great Northern website for the differences between machines, and Amazon for great prices and reviews.

I've had a couple of hot air popcorn poppers. But what I'm now using is the microwave. So much simpler. Nothing to store. Just put popcorn in a paper bag and use the popcorn timer or experiment with finding the correct time. The popcorn comes out looking and tasting the same as that popped in a popper.

I work with a company called Gold Medal Popcorn. They make wonderful poppers and back their product up. But they start out at around 300....so not sure you want to go that route.

Happy Birthday!
Mine's on Dec 26.
Personally - I love my hot air popcorn popper.
But many people don't like them.
I seem to manage the exploding corn kernels well and I love that I have total control over how much oil/butter to put on it.
A cup of air popped popcorn only has 31 calories.
There are some microwave poppers that look interesting but I've never tried them.

I love air popped popcorn. You can, of course, poor melted butter over it and add salt. I like to spray mine with non-stick cooking spray (a weight watchers suggestion) and sprinkle it with seasonings. The spray helps the seasoning stick.

I use the a bowl in the microwave to air pop the popcorn:

And my favorite seasoning is this:

I do love the white cheese, but they make several different flavors.

Happy birthday! Hope you love your new popper.

I am known for my homemade popcorn. Hey..we all have our God given talents eh?!? I make it ALL the time!!

We eat it multiple times each week. Seriously..that much popcorn cannot be good for my innards. But...it is a whole food so that eases my conscience.

I got turned on to the "Stir Crazy" popcorn maker about 7 years ago. I have never gone back to anything else. I buy mine at Target. It is made by West Bend.

All I use is Orville Redenbacher gourmet corn kernals(I buy it in the 8lb. container at Costco...see I am a popcorn hoarder), a little Olive oil and salt to taste after it is done. It is seriously the best!!

I have given the popped corn in a cute bowl as gifts to people and they call me asking how I made the delicious popcorn.

Sooo, take it from a popcorn snob like me....it is the bombdiggety!!!

Happy Birthday...and happy popping!!

My mom bought us one of those stove top popcorn makers that has a handle you crank. I love the simplicity of it and my kiddos enjoy it as well. I guess it depends on what you like...electric or manual.

And, I'm a December baby too! happy birthday.
