Hey Ladies,

Wanted to know if any of you have slipped discs in your lower back and had epidurals?Did any of you have a challenge with getting the epidural needles in your back? I had a time with trying to get one in for the birth of my son. Thankfully the staff at the hospital was great and patient with me.

Thanks

What can I do next?

I had a baby four months ago and I have a bulging disc in my back and a minor case of scoliosis(which I wasn't aware of until they gave me the epidural) They didn't have a hard time putting it in but they had a hard time telling if it went in to far because of the scoliosis. It did go in a little too far and I ended up with a spinal headache and they had to do a blood patch.

I have 3 slipped discs l3-4,l4-5,L5-S1 I was not able to have an epidural at all although I also had the experience of them trying for a long time and then having a spinal headache after. they also tried a spinal on me and did manage to get it in however the long acting medication does not work on me so i had two spinals then they told me I needed a c-section and Tried a third spinalwhich didn't work so I ended up unconscious for the birth of both of my children that sucked!

I never had slipped discs, however I had a difficult time getting the epididural the hospital jabbed me, 9 times over and over, and in that result it left me the next morning with what they call a spinal headache and it hurts real bad... Five days after all the pain I went through being a single mother then. I was dosed with Pain killers and had to lay down while trying to take care of my newborn, very difficult. But then when they gave me the treatment for the "spinal headache" it was exactly like an epididural but instead they put my own blood from my arm into my spine....very painful as well..but that was my experiance.
