My daughter just turned 9 too! We didnt have a party this year but last year she wanted a sleepover party which went very well. I had bought her a karaoke machine for Christmas the year before and we went and bought a few new karaoke cds, hooked the thing up in her room with a selection of dress up clothes and makeup, a big mirror and let them go! I don't know any 9 year old that wouldn't want to act like a rockstar with her friends! Also, we taped all the girls singing individually and gave them to each girl as a party favor; they loved it! My daughter still talks about it and we might try it again next year it went over so well. Whatever you do I am sure they will have fun, you obviously only want your girl to be happy so get her input and she will have a fine old time! Good Luck and congrats on a soon to be 9 year old; they are awesome!

My 13-year old son and my 9-year old daughter are into sleepover birthday parties. Last year I had a bowling party for my daughter and then we came home and they had a fashion show. Me and my fiance were the judges and they got prizes. The winner got a trophy as well. Since your daughter is not really into that, how about a pet show. I was going to have one for my daugther and her friends this summer, but the summer got away from us. Most of her friends have real dogs, but for the birthday party you could have all of her friends bring a favorite stuffed animal and they can dress them up and have a pet fashion show. They could do things like dress alike, dress their pet as their favorite character, etc. You could rent an animal video for just before bedtime. Good luck. And Happy Birthday to your daughter! K.

One of the things we did at my daughters party was let them cook. I bought individual pizza crusts and all the toppings were on the table. Everyone got to spread out their crusts and "decorate" their own pizzas. You can do this with cupcakes too. They all had a great time.
You can also rent a movie and pretend your at the theater with the popcorn, candy and stuff.
I find that if I have a "tentative" schedule, everything goes alot smoother.
Good luck and have fun!!!

Don't forget about the tried and true, like movies and popcorn, there are some really good ones out there, there's truth or dare, when my oldest were little we would do crank calls, kids love that we did it to family and friend only, but with caller ID know thats kinda hard, hide little trinkets through out the house for the kids to find and keep as souvaniers (SP) and one other thing I did with my girls was I bought a bunch of those plastic visors you can find at wal-mart and things to decorate it with and let them get creative, they loved creating thier own hats. Hope that helped.

Here is some games that i have came across.. thought they could be helpful.

Pass The Box
This is really fun, Take a small gift or toy that all kids would enjoy, then gift wrap it, but keep wrapping it with different layers of giftwrap. Play some music while passing the present around, when the music stops, the guest left holding it unwraps the first layer of wrapping paper, then the music starts again and the box is passed, then every time the music stops, another layer is removed until someone finally unwraps the very last layer,,,,, and that is the winner. It is kind of like Hot Potato, but this is an item that everyone wants to hold on to!

Bubble Gum Game
This game can be played as a relay race or be based on individual times. Split your guests into teams of 3-5 people. Get some paper plates, bubble gum, and whipped cream (in a can). Put a piece of bubble gum on the plate and swirl the whipped cream over it until the bubble gum is completely covered. Then have your guests dig through the whipped cream and find the bubble gum. Here's the catch, players must keep their hands behind their backs and dig through the whipped cream with their faces! Once they find it, they must chew it and blow a fairly good sized bubble. Go through until every one has had a turn. The person who blows the bubble first is the winner. You can also do several rounds until you have one winner. *Depending on what your guests wear, you may want to have a towel or garbage bag to use as a bib.

Sleepover Game - Stuffed Animal Find
Have all the people that are coming to the sleep over bring a stuffed animal. Once they arrive, take their stuffed animal and place it in a pile, you could also use a large box, with the other stuffed animals. Then during the party, gather your guests and blindfold one and have them search through the pile to find their stuffed animal using only their hands. Everyone that finds their's gets a small prize.

or even do simple stuff like BINGO and just have a few cheap prizes for the person who gets bingo.

maybe a scavenger hunt would be fun.
you can do a few cool games maybe before everything starts take your daughter the movie rental place to pick out a movie for them to watch after all the excitement is over so they can get relaxed for bed.. i know if i was 9 again i would have a blast with these games... good luck and hope this helps you ....

Chocolate bar game
Need: Lg. chocolate bar (wrapped), dice, cookie sheet, knife and fork, funny dress up clothes(like a big hat, pair of dishwashing gloves and a pair of sunglasses)

This is really similar to the unwrapping present idea. You get one of the huge chocolate bars and wrap it over and over and over again (Best to use alternating wrapping paper on each layer so they can tell they are at a new layer). Tie cheap ribbon around each layer as well. Put the wrapped bar on a cookie sheet with a butter knife and fork and a set of dice.
The kids stand around a table and take turns rolling the dice. When someone rolls a seven they have to go put on the silly clothes and run around the table once, then they get to start unwrapping the chocolate bar using the knife and fork. They have to take one layer of wrapping off before they can go to the next layer. Meanwhile the rest of the guests are still rolling the dice. As soon as someone rolls a seven the dressed up person has to stop and hand over the clothes and it keeps going. It goes until you get to the chocolate bar and the person who reaches the bar gets it. (they usually share a little :))

Toilet paper fashon show:
Seperate the girls 2-3 groups, give them each a paper bag and several rolls of toilet paper, scissors, and tape. They have 10 minutes to create an outfit on one of the people in their group and be ready to do a whole fashon show describing what the person is wearing. If you can video tape the whole thing they can watch it later with popcorn and enjoy the show.

Pictionary
Get a white board or just a lot of blank paper and a marker
Have a bowl full of words that the girls pick from and then have to draw for their team to guess.

You could also make a cake and ice it but then buy a bunch of candy and decorations and let the girls decorate the cake themselves.

If you are feeding them dinner you might do individual pizzas, and again let the girls make their own- you have the prepared crust and they put their own toppings on it.

Have a couple good movies for them to watch that night and really part of the fun of a sleep over is getting to just hang out with all your friends and talk and be goofy late into the night... so don't feel like you have to over plan :)
Have fun and hope you and your husband actually get some sleep that night :)
