Hi, My daughter's hands and toes have started to peel, I don't think there is any particular reason for it, we called the doctor they just said to put a moisture lotion or cream, but Im still little concerned about it, the peeling its not the kind of an over exposure to sun, did anybody have the same problem??? what can I expect?? thanks

What can I do next?

My daughter had the same problem. I thought it was really wierd and took her to the Dr. He said that it was nothing to worry about, it had something to do with her hands sweating. Eventually it stopped - I don't remember how long it took but it was a while.

My step son has very dry cracked skin on his arms and feet -- we only see him once a year and every year he comes back like that. When he is with us, I use Renew lotion on him from my Home Business company - it is all natural- and it is gone within a few days. But once again, when he leaves it goes right back to where it was. His mother - excuse me - is a Moron, she doesnt do anything for it and he says it bleeds because it is so dry when he is home. Of course, she wont listen to anything my husband and I say so - once a year he has smooth skin. If your interested in natural products, message me or check out my profile for more info.

It is from changing seasons. All four of my kids go through it. We use Dr.Scholl's nighttime cream every night after their baths. Make sure their feet are nice and dry first though. Then I apply the lotion and put socks on. My lil one, she's 12 months, won't sleep with socks on. But she keeps them on until bedtime so the lotion isn't all over my floors! LOL Good luck, it will go away though!

D.,

Your daughter has not been wearing "Croc" type shoes, has she? My son who is 2 lives in his. The other day I saw that his feet were also peeling. I wondered if it had to do with the synthetic material the Crocs are made of. Just a thought. I also assumed that if it didn't appear to hurt him, I was going to leave it alone. My oldest, who is almost 7 now, had hand, foot, and mouth disease when he was A LOT younger which showed up as little peeling marks on his feet & a sore throat with a super high fever (I seem to remember 104!). Unless she is showing further signs, my guess she just has peeling feet, for whatever reason.

Good luck!

It can be attributed to a change in the weather, not sure what causes it since she's so little. Is she walking yet? If so, that could be the cause, skin gets a little tougher and when weather changes and we become a little more sedentary, the old skin peels. A gentle scrub of the toots in the bath, can even use a mild pumice, that will help. Just make sure it's not red or raw or itchy, if so then see dr. If she's not walking yet, she could just have very sensitive skin. When i moved back to IL from a tropical region, my hands begun peeling and became so sensitive, and i'm sure it's from the high humidity to the drier, cooler air that caused it. I used lots of lotion... but it didn't stop the peel! Good luck to you and your wee girl, if it's just weather, should stop in a few weeks.

Did she have any other viral sympotms? Recently, my son ran a fever for 12 hours, complained of a headache for two days and then 2 days later his hands and feet started to peel. Took him to the doctor and they basically said there are lots of viruses that cause peeling of the skin. They did have him tested for Strep as that is sometimes an indicator of strep in young children. He was negative for strep...so they recommended Aquaphor by Eucerin on the affected areas. Its gotten better but some residual peeling lasted for about 4-5 weeks. Since she is so little and can't really tell you about other symptoms,, (my sone is 3) you might want to have her tested for Strep...but otherwise the moisturizer helps.
Good Luck!!

creams without parabens and with evening primrose oil in them will rejuvenate the skin and the cells beneath. You can get it at Wild Oats if you're interested.

Is Bianca crawling? This could happen from all the new wear and tear on her skin. But if this has been persisting for longer than expected, I would take your baby into the doctor so he/she can see her skin. Sometimes explanations over the phone can be misinterpretted especially when descibing something of the skin. At least the doctor will be able to see it first hand.

Hi
Right around age 2, my son's hands and feet started cracking and peeling...it was awful looking but not bleeding or painful...We slathered every thick paste-like lotion we could find. We called the doctor and they told us to keep applying lotion, but never told us what it could be. Then in a few weeks, it went away...he's 4 now and it never came back, so evidentally it really wasn't serious.

Hope this eases your mind.
